I got SMILE LASIK and regained the light!
I had been thinking a lot about SMILE LASIK, and I ended up getting it during this break. I searched a lot on Modoodoc, cafes, and so on. My top priorities were finding “a hospital I could trust,” “aftercare,” and “a hospital with no chance of failure.”
Among the hospitals I found, I narrowed it down to two with well-known doctors, and I chose between Shinchon and Sinsa SNU Eye Clinic.
I had eye exams at both, but Sinsa SNU Eye Clinic felt more systematic, and since I wanted SMILE LASIK, I trusted the director there because I heard he was the first to introduce SMILE LASIK to Korea!
Also, because I had worn contact lenses 3 days before, I couldn’t have surgery that same day, so I only had the eye exam and went home to think a bit more. But no matter how much I searched reviews, I couldn’t find any saying their vision got worse, so I decided I should get it done at SNU Eye Clinic.
The cost was a little higher than other hospitals, but I think my mindset was, “They’ll do a good job because of that...?” haha (I really thought about it a lot. Even with the discount, the price was a bit high....)
People around me also said SMILE LASIK hurts a lot, so I was really scared, but for me, it honestly only hurt for about 4 hours on the day of surgery. After that, I only felt a slight foreign-body sensation, like I was wearing contact lenses. That was fine after 3 days too!
It’s been a week since I had SMILE LASIK, and because my pupils are large, glare can’t really be helped, but they said it should get better after another 2-3 weeks, so I’m waiting! My visual acuity came out as 1.0 in both eyes, but once the glare goes away, I think it might even be 1.2!
And the recovery is really fast too, to the point that the hospital said the wounds in my eyes had all healed and that I could drink alcohol starting today!
I’m seriously regretting why I didn’t do it earlier ㅠㅠㅠ It’s so good. How many decades has it been since I could see everything clearly as soon as I wake up....
