Review of nose crookedness and asymmetry after rhinoplasty Surgery date: March 13 About a week after I removed the bandages after surgery, the shape of my nose started to look severely curved overall. At first I thought it was because of swelling, but as time passed and the swelling went down, the columella became crooked and the nostrils became severely asymmetric, and the nose itself looked even more crooked than before surgery. During the pre-op consultation, I clearly said I wanted a nose that was close to straight. But after surgery, my nose was made into a slightly curved, half-moon shape, unlike what I wanted. I felt that my opinion was not sufficiently reflected during the consultation process. Hospital follow-up process When I went to the hospital for follow-up, I told the director that my nose seemed crooked. Then, in front of two other patients, the director spoke to me in a casual tone and loudly: "I told you. Your original nose was crooked." And as a solution, they said they would inject permanent filler. In the pre-op consultation, I was told things like, "Everything will go well," "No one has ever been unhappy after surgery with me," and "If you are not satisfied, I will refund you." But I did not receive sufficient explanation about problems or side effects that could occur after surgery, or the possibility that the nose could look crooked. About the between-the-eyebrows height and the impression it gave During the pre-op consultation, I asked them not to make the glabella area too high and not to make my eyes look too close together. The director said not to worry because they would insert 3 mm of silicone. But after the swelling went down, my eyes looked more open, the tear-duct area became much more visible, and my impression became stronger than before. The director said that had nothing to do with it, and this part was also a huge personal stress for me. Every time I met people around me, I kept hearing things like, "Why is your nose so crooked?" and "Your nostrils look weird," and it gradually became hard for me to go out or even meet people. Requesting pre-op photos Around May, I called the hospital and asked for my pre-op photos. They told me I had to visit in person to receive them, so I went to the hospital. Even there, the director again said, "Your original nose was asymmetrical," and spoke as if there was no problem with the current nose shape. After that, I was only told to come back three weeks later for swelling injections. In the end, I ended up getting consultations at other plastic surgery clinics as well, and I was told by another director that the surgery itself seemed to have been done incorrectly. To those preparing for rhinoplasty I am leaving this post in the hope that no one else goes through the same thing I did.
