I’ve had consultations at three clinics so far. Two said it has to be open, and one said it can be done closed. The place I liked most was the one that said closed, but I had originally been thinking open. So I asked whether open would be better, and they said open does give a better view, but the results probably wouldn’t be very different, so closed would be fine too. My first surgery was done closed, with silicone + donated rib for support and the tip. For a full removal, would it be okay to do it closed as well? If I remove everything, I don’t plan to have another revision in the future, so I keep wondering if I should definitely do open removal to make sure everything is taken out. On the other hand, if closed is possible, maybe it would be better to do it closed..!! They would remove the support, reposition the cartilage, and remove the capsule, so I’d appreciate advice on whether closed would still be okay!! I had only been thinking about open surgery, so I never expected to be torn between open and closed
