I have never met anyone with worse eyesight than mine. Before surgery, my vision was right eye myopia -10.5, astigmatism -4.0; left eye myopia -9.5, astigmatism -4.0. I wanted surgery as soon as I turned 20, but I kept putting it off because of circumstances and money, and last year I toured hospitals when I came back to Korea. At first I was only thinking about lens implantation because of my vision, but because of the astigmatism the price was about 1.5 times higher than I expected, so I hesitated. The estimate was about 4.5 to 6 million won. After going around three famous hospitals in Gangnam, I did my own legwork and found an eye clinic in Jamsil. They said they were good at LASIK. Because my vision was so bad, other hospitals told me that if I did LASIK I would definitely have to get lens implantation again and my eyes would definitely get bad again, but here they said my vision would worsen, but only to the point of maybe needing light glasses, and that I would not need another surgery. At that time my glasses were so thick that even compressing them three times still left them insanely thick. And honestly, as long as I got above the minus range, I felt like I would be able to see well enough. Heh. It's been a year now. Halos around lights were actually there even before surgery, so it feels even better now, and I do have dry eyes, but my improved vision is so much more important that it is fine.
