Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

One-month progress update after double jaw and contouring surgery!

The reason I decided to have surgery was that it was really hard to keep my mouth closed because of my recessed chin and protruding mouth. I thought orthodontics would fix it, but the recessed-chin feeling remained more than I expected, so I ended up thinking about surgery too. I worried about it for a long time, but I felt more strongly that I should do it before it got even later. I chose Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. My mother looked into several places and recommended it, and more than anything, my older sister had surgery at the same clinic 2 years ago, so I naturally trusted it. Watching my sister's recovery process from the side was a big reason I made the decision. I was discharged on the third day after surgery. There was quite a bit of swelling, but almost no pain. After discharge, I wanted the swelling to go down quickly, so I tried to move around a lot with light walks, and I ate mostly porridge and thin rice gruel. By the second week, the swelling had clearly gone down and the yellow bruising had almost disappeared. My pronunciation also got clearer, so speaking became much easier. As I moved into weeks 3 and 4, I could feel changes every day. Right after surgery, my nose was blocked and it was hard to breathe, and my ears felt muffled, which was frustrating, but now those symptoms are almost gone. These days, if I do not look in the mirror, I almost forget that I had surgery, because daily life feels so natural. The only thing is that my palate and cheekbone area still feel a bit numb, and there is still a slight sense that the anesthesia has not fully worn off, but overall I am recovering well and I am satisfied.
