Before the surgery, my long chin was a concern. The flatness of my face when seen from the side was also stressful. In photos I looked like a plate, and even after orthodontic treatment at another dental clinic it was not resolved, so I decided on double jaw surgery, square jaw contouring, and chin contouring. Now, 6 months later, I can eat all kinds of food. I kept thinking about whether there was anything bothering me, but I do not think there is. At most, I sometimes feel like the muscles around my mouth are a little stiff. I even eat the short dried squid sold at convenience stores. I am living just as I did before. Sensation under my lower lip and chin has also returned about 90%. Compared with other areas, it itches less and the sensation when poked is weaker, but now I can notice it if I spill water. Compared with an average person, I do not think there is a major difference. Aside from the fact that I was short of breath at the beginning and lost a lot of stamina for about 2 weeks, it was not painful, and after that I did not really have any discomfort. I can even fit a fist in my mouth.... I kept thinking about what to share if there were side effects, but there is not much that is different from before. I have been busy getting back to daily life, so I have been going through things without much thought, but other than being able to eat hard food, open my mouth wide, having the swelling go down, and my chin becoming smaller and set back, I think I returned quickly to the same condition as before. Since I repeatedly emphasized before surgery that I wanted a natural improvement in my prognathism and hoped they would make it natural, they really did make it very natural. It is partly a matter of personal taste, but my side profile was originally a bit crescent-shaped, so I said I wanted a natural chin that is round, short, and does not lose the angle at the jawline near the ear too sharply, and they did exactly that. Overall, I think my face has become much more rounded than before. I feel good because I do not have the stress I used to feel about my face shape when looking in the mirror. Before, I thought about it every single time I looked in the mirror. I am truly grateful to Director Lee Seok-jae at YI Oral Surgery for not changing anything unnecessary and only correcting the parts I wanted fixed. If I could go back, I would still have the surgery. If I had known I would feel this relaxed and see such a natural improvement, I think I would have decided sooner.
