It has already been a year since I had double jaw surgery in March of last year. Because I had been worrying about the surgery for so long, I had a lot of concerns, but looking back now, all of that time feels like it has been naturally settled. These days, in daily life, I barely think about my jaw or my bite. In the past, there were moments when I would unconsciously worry about the position or movement of my jaw, but now I feel so comfortable that I don’t even have those thoughts. I can just use it naturally without any discomfort. Eating is definitely different too. Before, I used to chew more on one side or feel like food wasn’t being chewed evenly, but now both sides of my teeth fit together balanced, so food is chewed naturally. I can eat hard or chewy foods without 부담, and I can feel that my jaw stays comfortable while chewing. There are changes when speaking as well. People around me often say my pronunciation has become clearer, and personally I also notice that my jaw doesn’t get tired even after long conversations. I think I’ve only now realized how uncomfortable it used to be. Even my facial expressions feel much more natural. The feeling of unnecessary tension when smiling or speaking has decreased, and I can feel my facial movements flowing more smoothly. When taking photos, my expression comes out much more relaxed than before, which makes me happy. Visually, too, it feels less like a dramatic change and more like the overall balance has settled naturally. People around me also say not that I look like I had surgery, but that my impression has become more comfortable. I can feel that my face has completely settled over time. Now, one year later, it doesn’t feel like recovery has ended so much as it feels like I’ve simply returned to my original face and function. It has blended into my daily life so naturally that I no longer think about the fact that I had surgery. Right after surgery, the recovery process felt long and difficult, but as time passed it gradually stabilized, and now I think I’ve gotten satisfying results both functionally and visually. If I could go back to that time, I think I would make the same choice again, and now I have no regrets at all about that decision.
