One Month Into Jaw Correction: Start Review

Because my upper jaw is smaller than my lower jaw, I decided to get palate expansion first. To do that, I had a palatal expander attached. Since it was under anesthesia, it felt more sore than painful. After tightening it with the screw once a day, my front teeth started to spread apart T_T Now I only tighten the screw once a week. I am starting this asymmetry jaw correction with trust. Although it has only been a month, so there is no dramatic visible change yet, I am most looking forward to the functional improvements. I hope I can chew comfortably on both sides, reduce the strain on my jaw, and eventually have my facial balance settle a bit more naturally. For anyone thinking about orthodontic treatment, the first few days definitely need an adjustment period, but people adapt faster than you think! I was scared too, but now I keep thinking, “Why did I not do this sooner?”
