I am bringing a 9-month review after having double jaw surgery with Dr. Shin Hee-jin at Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. My nose was originally on the low side, but because of my protruding mouth, my mouth looked even more prominent, and every time I looked in the mirror I kept focusing on my mouth, which was so stressful. So I decided I had to fix this in one go and made up my mind to get double jaw surgery. I considered several hospitals, but from the very first consultation at Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the feeling was different. They did not excessively push this and that, but explained only the necessary parts, which actually made me trust them more, and the overall system also looked solid, so I chose Iyoo Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery haha Now it has been 9 months, and honestly the side profile is what I am happiest with. These days, whenever I have nothing to do, I end up taking side-profile selfies, and before, I had to consciously keep my mouth closed, but now it closes naturally even when I am just relaxing, so it is really comfortable. And I have been told a lot that my impression has become softer. Being able to stop worrying about my chin or face shape when taking photos was a much bigger change than I expected, and psychologically I feel much more at ease too. During recovery, there were moments early on when I wondered if this was really right, but as time passed I could see everything settling into place, so I came to see that process as a natural stage, and now I have absolutely no regrets. Not long ago I went to my older brother's wedding, and relatives I had not seen in a long time all told me I looked prettier, which made me genuinely happy. These days I am living for the fun of looking in the mirror. If you are worried about malocclusion, protruding mouth, or facial shape, I recommend looking into it properly at least once, rather than just building up stress like I did.
