This is a 7-month review of my orthognathic surgery with Director Shin Hee-jin at Eui Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery haha. It already feels like 7 months have passed since the surgery, time really goes by so fast!! In the early stage after surgery, the swelling was severe and even eating was so hard that every day felt like I was just trying to get through it, but looking back now, that time really did pass 🥹 These days, most of the major swelling has gone down and my facial lines have settled in naturally a lot! Especially my side profile and jawline feel so different from before the surgery that I still find it amazing every time I look in the mirror haha. Before, taking photos was stressful because of my jaw and asymmetry, but now taking photos is so much easier and I feel much more confident!! People around me also often say that my impression has become much softer, so my satisfaction keeps growing for no reason 😊 My orthodontic treatment is finished too, so daily life is much more comfortable, and I can eat most foods without any trouble! I can even eat chewy or very hard foods now, so sometimes I forget I even had surgery..? There is still a little residual swelling and slight numbness on the left cheekbone area and around my mouth, but it’s nowhere near as noticeable as it was at the beginning, and it does not affect daily life at all! The doctor also said recovery progresses slowly for each person, so I’m waiting calmly haha. Most of all, when I compare the pre-op photos, the center of my face and the lines have changed so much that I keep thinking I made the right decision to go through with orthognathic surgery 🫶 I’m looking forward to the look once even the last bit of swelling goes down and everything settles naturally!!
