Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

A single review on Everytime made me decide on double jaw surgery, and now that I'm 1 year out, my satisfaction is insane

A double jaw surgery review I happened to see on Everytime, the college community app, is still stuck in my memory. It was a post saying that life changed after double jaw surgery and that if you were thinking about it, it was a must-recommend. Back then, I was stressed even about taking photos because of my jaw, and I always hid my side profile. While asking the reviewer for various bits of information, I found out they had surgery with Dr. Shin Hee-jin at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and after seeing the before-and-after photos, I really started feeling that I absolutely wanted to have surgery at this hospital. The reviewer’s before-and-after change looked so natural, and the overall atmosphere looked good, so I went for a consultation there too. Dr. Shin Hee-jin listened carefully to the feeling I wanted, and that gave me confidence! After thinking it over, I went ahead with the surgery, and now I understand so well why it was recommended that I want to honestly share a summary of my 1-year experience!! [Record from 1 month to 1 year] 1 month: As the food I could eat gradually increased, my quality of life felt like it went way up. I adjusted to wafers faster than I expected, and even with swelling, I could go out without a mask, so recovery was much more comfortable. I could see my face shape becoming more refined little by little, so I spent a lot of time looking in the mirror lol 2 months: As the swelling went down more, the change in my face shape became more noticeable! I could eat much more comfortably, and daily life was almost back to normal. This was the time when people around me started saying my face had a different vibe! 3 months: Before, when taking photos, I was busy hiding my jaw and worrying about angles, but now I no longer care much even if my side profile gets captured. My bite was stable too, so there was almost no discomfort in daily life, and this was the time when my satisfaction with double jaw surgery really went up :) 4 months: As the swelling became noticeably smaller, the result felt much more natural, which I liked even more. People I met after a long time kept telling me I looked so much better, and even those who had been against the surgery said I was glad I did it after seeing the result, which made me feel proud haha. 5 months: I heard many times that it hardly looked like I had surgery haha. It settled so naturally that unless I said it first, people would not know I had double jaw surgery, and I often heard that my face shape looked much more refined. 6 months: It got so comfortable that I would forget I had surgery! Compared with what I had worried about before surgery, recovery was going smoothly, and I felt like I had completely broken free from the jaw complex that had stressed me out for a long time!! 7 months: Even when smiling or making expressions, everything became much more natural. Looking at photos from before double jaw surgery, I really wondered if it was even the same person, because my impression changed so much, and I thought my current face fit my image much better haha 8 months: Swelling and discomfort were hardly noticeable, and I could eat most foods comfortably! By then it just felt like my own face as usual, and I was able to live without even thinking about the fact that I had undergone double jaw surgery! 9 months: The sagging of chin fat that I had worried about was hardly noticeable! And my facial muscle movements became much more natural!!! As time went on, my facial lines felt more and more refined, so my satisfaction kept growing as time passed!! 10 months: The swelling had almost completely disappeared, and before surgery I had asked Dr. Shin to preserve the side profile (the noble-chin look) while emphasizing a natural feeling, and I could really feel that it came out exactly as I asked, so I was extremely satisfied! My jawline became more defined while still not looking artificial and staying natural, so I was really happy. Dr. Shin is truly the best haha 11 months: Functionally, I had almost no discomfort, and my sensation was gradually returning to normal as well. This was the period when people around me said most often that my face turned out really naturally and well, and the best part was that taking photos was no longer stressful!!! Current (1 year): Now the swelling has gone down completely, and it has settled in so naturally that it really feels like my original face. I have absolutely no discomfort in daily life, and I live so comfortably that I even forget I had double jaw surgery!!! I was told the orthodontic treatment will end in about 1 to 2 months now, so I am really excited, and the overall facial line feels even more natural and refined as time goes by~! Especially if I do not mention it first, people around me do not realize at all that I had double jaw surgery, and I hear that it turned out so naturally and well, plus people ask me a lot where I had it done and for information haha Before surgery, I was worried it might look artificial, but I think that was unnecessary concern. My sensation has not fully returned yet, but it is not uncomfortable enough to matter in daily life, and I can feel that the awkwardness when making expressions is becoming more natural, so I think it will get even better over time!!! More than anything, the biggest satisfaction is that I no longer feel stress from my side profile or from photos like before, and since I agonized over this for so long, I really think I made the right choice to do it!!! The chances of Dr. Shin Hee-jin seeing this post are low, but lol still, thank you so, so much haha
