Hello! It’s already been 5 months since I had jaw surgery and contouring surgery together at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yun to fix the malocclusion I had worried about for a long time!
I had malocclusion since elementary school, but I couldn’t get proper treatment because I was living abroad T_T I already had orthodontic treatment in elementary, middle, and high school, but my bite was forced into place, so I kept hearing that either I should just keep living like that or, if I really wanted to solve it properly, I would need jaw surgery.
So I always thought I would definitely have to do it someday, and after a long time of thinking it over, I decided to have the surgery at Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!
Since it was such a major surgery, the thing I looked at most when researching hospitals was reviews! I felt drawn in after seeing cases similar to mine change so naturally, and I carefully looked into Dr. Kim Jong-yun’s career too! More than anything, I trusted the fact that the surgery would be performed directly by an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist, rather than, of course, a plastic surgery specialist, and I also thought that having orthodontic collaboration would make treatment easier, so I chose Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!!
And now I’m already writing a 5-month review! Time really flies, so sometimes I even forget I had surgery haha
What I’m happiest about is that I can still go out comfortably without a mask and with a bare face. Before, I was so self-conscious about my chin looking long that even if I wore a hat, a hood, or a mask, I still had to put on makeup before going out. But now I can go out confidently with just enough makeup to cover minor spots!! T_T
As my face shape has naturally settled, makeup has become more fun too, and these days I’m spending my time taking lots of photos and enjoying going out here and there!!
Since the surgery results were satisfying, I even got quite a few messages from my parents’ friends!
My younger sibling, who had the same concern, was scared at first and said there was no way they could do it, but after hearing my story they got a consultation and eventually started orthodontic treatment, I heard. I felt oddly proud haha
And the small changes every month are fascinating too. Compared with last month, I feel like the residual swelling has gone down just a little more, and the facial line seems to be getting even more natural!! haha
The sensation has now mostly returned too, probably about 99% recovered, and there is truly zero inconvenience in daily life! Now I’m just waiting to finish orthodontic treatment well and for the day when the pins are removed!!
If there are people worrying about jaw surgery, personally I strongly recommend Iyu Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, but even if not there, I really hope you at least get a consultation somewhere!! I’m living so satisfied with the surgery result that I don’t feel the time I spent worrying was wasted haha
