Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

It seems you should not decide on double jaw surgery based only on aesthetics

The biggest thing I felt after double jaw surgery plus chin surgery was that double jaw surgery is really not something you should approach as a simple cosmetic surgery to make your face smaller. It is a surgery where not only the jaw bones move, but the structures inside the mouth, the bite, the temporomandibular joints, and even the nerve positions are all connected. During consultation I felt a lot that it has to be done by someone who properly understands oral and maxillofacial anatomy. You also have to consider functional aspects before and after surgery, as well as any pathological situations that might arise, so there really is a reason people say double jaw surgery should be done by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. I had mine done by Dr. Kang Young-ho at Jae Dental Clinic, and because he is an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist from Seoul National University, from the consultation onward it did not feel like a simple 'make my face smaller' approach. Instead, he explained how the bite would change, why the direction of jaw movement matters, and how to look at facial proportions and function together, which definitely gave me trust. As a result, my lines were naturally refined, and both the front and side views became much softer. More than anything, it feels like the functional side has been stabilized properly, so I am very satisfied. For anyone considering double jaw surgery, do not just look at review photos. Make sure to check first whether the surgeon is an oral and maxillofacial surgery specialist and whether the clinic looks at function as well.
