I developed malocclusion after puberty and had surgery

Hello, this is my 6-month update after double jaw surgery.I had double jaw surgery and two contouring procedures (square jaw, chin) at Y Oral Surgery on December 17, 2025, and I have spent the past 6 months quite comfortably without really noticing how much time had passed.I had double jaw surgery because I developed malocclusion after puberty, and now I sometimes look through my photo album and get surprised when I see my old face because I can hardly remember it anymore.People around me are also starting to say that the swelling has gone down a lot and it looks natural now.The one thing I really want to tell people who have had double jaw surgery is: please make sure to walk after surgery!I think there is quite a difference in swelling management between people who walked after surgery and people who did not.By the way, I did not eat much, but I used to think, “How do people really walk for 2 to 3 hours?” I mostly stayed at home, and even when I went outside, I would only walk around for less than 30 minutes. And even after a month, it was cold and I got lazy, so I kept putting off walks. That is probably why my swelling goes down a bit slower than other people’s! Once I started going to school, I naturally ended up walking a lot more, and I could really feel the swelling dropping quickly while I was attending school. As expected, walking a lot is the best way to manage swelling!The hospital told me that the bones had almost completely healed, so I am now starting to think about pin removal.My sensation had previously been absent only in the lower left jaw area, and everything else had already returned, but now sensation is gradually coming back. It is not fully back yet, but the director said I should wait 6 to 12 months, so I plan to wait.I really feel like people around me kept saying I made the right choice by getting double jaw surgery. If anyone is seriously considering it, I recommend getting a consultation first, and if your case is suitable for double jaw surgery, choose the hospital carefully and go ahead with the surgery!
