As I wrote in the title, I had my first nose surgery with silicone 10 years ago (I did it closed because I did not want to leave a scar). Back then, apps were not really that well developed, and it was hard to get information, so I just made a list of places where people around me had good results and spent a lot of time researching on my own and visiting clinics. Among them, I had surgery at a place that was friendly, matched my aesthetic sense to some extent, and had a reasonable price. But now, 10 years later, the bridge seems way too high and the tip seems a bit low and short by comparison, so my dissatisfaction kept growing.. I could even see the silicone more and more, and once I noticed it had rotated to one side, I really, really wanted to remove it. I thought just removing the silicone would already make things a lot better..
This time I used apps, cafes, and everything else I could to research properly and visited hospitals, but they all said it was an I-shaped silicone implant that extended all the way to the tip like in the photo above. So they said because the tip portion was inserted a bit thickly, removing it alone could make the nose collapse While going around hospitals, I saw places that wanted to use costal cartilage to support the tip, places that wanted to replace the silicone, and places that wanted to do it without implants. But I was uncomfortable with costal cartilage because I did not like the feeling of the nose becoming stiff.. Then when I went to the hospital where I had surgery now, the doctor said that even if we only removed the silicone, the nose would not collapse, so that was the approach we could take As expected, the more hospitals I visited, the more helpful it was.
And because they could do virtual surgery, they showed me side-by-side simulations for just removing it, for simple restoration with ear cartilage, and for using costal cartilage, which made it easier for me to choose.. Honestly, after seeing the simulation, the costal cartilage option looked prettier, but the surgery itself felt too burdensome, so after a lot of thought I went back to my original plan: closed surgery with tip cartilage fixation and restoration using only ear cartilage!! At 1 week, because the silicone had been removed, the swelling was pretty heavy so it was almost like a nose blob, but as the swelling went down, the contour became more visible and the line was settling nicely, so I am writing this review I do not feel any foreign-body sensation, and just the fact that the silicone is gone makes me feel so relieved now... If there is anyone looking into silicone removal, I wrote this review to help, and I did not write the hospital name just in case, but if you are curious, ask me!!
