I’d been struggling with my low, wide bulbous nose and kept putting it off, but since I had just quit my job, I went ahead and got rhinoplasty. I consulted at several clinics, mainly ones run by a single head doctor, and in the end I decided to have surgery at Obly Plastic Surgery. There were two reasons I made that choice. They asked me to show them the nose line I wanted and photos of celebrities. Seeing that they actually checked the photos made me feel like they would reflect my wishes as much as possible. I showed them Shin Se-kyung’s photo, haha;; but Shin Se-kyung’s nose is extremely high and large, so they couldn’t make it that size. Still, they understood that I wanted a line where the tip slopes down in a rounded shape. And among all the hospitals I consulted, this was the only head doctor who also advised me against getting double-eyelid surgery, saying my eyes were fine as they are and there was no need to operate. (The doctor’s name is Dr. Kim Da-alm.) My double eyelids aren’t bad right now either, so I was thinking it would be okay to do it later if my eyelids sag in the future, so I was secretly glad they talked me out of it... My nose was originally quite wide, so they designed the bridge to be a little thicker to match. And when they simulated the expected surgical result from various angles using a 3D tool, I felt much less anxious. If they had simply done a line drawing from the side and designed the nose verbally, I think I would have been extremely anxious about whether my wishes were properly reflected. Actually, even after the design, I worried it might be too high, so when I told the doctor before surgery, they firmly said it was not high at all. Looking at it now, I think I’m glad I followed the doctor’s recommendation haha... as expected, a professional... The silicone made with that 3D design was used for the bridge, and the tip was supported with septal cartilage and shaped with ear cartilage. They clearly explained that I would have to accept my existing nasal asymmetry and mild rhinitis, and also told me that risks could arise after using silicone. For the first week after surgery, it was a somewhat uncomfortable period because I had to focus on recovery, but after a week passed, I could feel the swelling gradually going down and the sensation seemed to stabilize too. Surprisingly, the hardest part was the sebum in my nose Since I had to handle my nose carefully, it was hard to remove, so I just gave up on some of it and got by. It’s been about a month now. Because of my facial bone structure and eyebrows, I already had a masculine image, so I was worried that if my nose became too high, my image would look even stronger. But thanks to the natural design, my features seem more harmonious. They say the residual swelling goes down for up to six months, but I like it exactly as it is now, so I just hope it doesn’t go much lower from here.
