(I’ll blur the photos) It’s been a while since I last checked in. It seems like things have mostly settled now, so unless some big issue or change comes up, this will probably be my last review post! Before surgery, I was worried that my nose would change so much that people would only ever talk about my nose, but even close acquaintances really can’t tell. Only friends with a sharp eye notice first, or if I bring it up first, they’ll say, “Oh, right, now that I look at it, it does seem a bit different~.”
The front view seems to have changed a lot more than the side view, and photos really do not flatter me! Even though I’ve lost weight compared to before removal, because of my nose I look like I gained about 5 kg.. There are various pros and cons, but I’m still very satisfied with how I look now
Before surgery: 3 mm silicone bridge, septal extension, tip (ear cartilage), alar reduction Removal surgery: silicone and tip cartilage removed, septum trimmed and used as support Reason for removal: round visibility of tip cartilage, foreign-body sensation, anxiety, looked a bit masculine Reason I left the support in: At a consultation at one hospital, they said if I removed everything, the columella would definitely curl upward. My natural columella was already very short, so I didn’t want it to curl up more, so I left the support in. Removal advantages: more natural, peace of mind, anxiety gone, still has support but the nose is softer than a surgical nose, the visible marks at the tip disappeared too (this may vary from person to person) Removal disadvantages: because the same area as the first surgery was incised, the scar takes a long time to fade (the incision scar is still slightly visible, and when I’m tired it seems to get a bit redder); obviously, the nose is lower, shorter, and rounder; it photographs less well; the asymmetry of the nostrils is a bit more noticeable than in my natural nose (there was almost no visible asymmetry in my natural nose or my surgical nose)
I brought photos that matched the before-and-after as closely as possible. Please keep in mind there are slight differences in lighting and angle when you look at them.
After writing a few review posts and sharing info in the comments, it seemed like everyone here wanted the same kinds of information! So I wrote down as much info as I could. If you’re curious about anything else, leave a comment.
I used to share hospital info in the comments too, but it felt a bit awkward to talk about that too casually... Just because I went to one place doesn’t mean the surgery will definitely go well there, and if you’re only using my post as a reference without deciding anything for yourself, then I can share the hospital info too. For the record, this isn’t viral marketing, and if it were, I’d be shameless enough to admit it..... just in case anyone suspects that
