Seven to eight years after my nose surgery, I slowly started wondering whether it was getting slightly lifted? Then now it has been 16 years, and it looks clearly like contracture, so I felt I should not delay and started looking into consultations! (I originally came into the community planning a revision surgery, but ended up deciding on removal.) First surgery: 17 years ago, non-open Nasal bridge silicone / nasal tip ear cartilage + ear cartilage to lower the nostrils -> The bridge was too high starting from the glabella, and the nose became longer. -> Lowering the nostrils made the nose look blunt. -> The nostrils are uneven, and there is a raised bump in the middle of the right alar.
Second surgery: 16 years ago, open Lowering the nasal bridge silicone / removing as much of the ear cartilage used for the tip and nostril-lowering as possible and replacing it with septal cartilage. -> I disliked the first surgery so much... It was not a perfect surgery, but I just lived with it. (Improved part) blunt-looking nose (Unimproved parts) uneven nostrils, severe internal scar tissue... Deformation in the middle of the alar. (It appeared on both sides after the revision -- the hospital also does not know why, sigh, terrible) + A 11-shaped connector nostrils <Consultation 1. [Clinic A]> I contacted them in early to mid April and made a reservation. It seems you have to wait 2 to 3 months for a consultation reservation... T_T * Consultation fee: 30,000 won Consultation order: staff consultation - CT scan - doctor consultation - staff consultation * Consultation method: CT scan, palpation, visual examination * 30 minutes of parking support (mechanical, valet) * The staff was kind, the doctor was moderately kind and answered questions well! * Consultation contents - It is definitely contracture, and the columellar volume is also quite lacking. - The capsule formed after the last surgery can be removed entirely, but the capsule left from the first surgery may be difficult to remove completely. - Total removal is possible, but it seems the bone may have been touched as well when the revision was done, and the bone area around the nasal valve may be better left in place to prevent saddle nose. - Uneven nostrils -> may remain. - The protruding alar area -> likely to remain. If any ear cartilage used for lowering the nostrils is still left, they plan to remove it. They said lowering the nostrils is absolutely a surgery that should not be done... - Open / local anesthesia (they put you to sleep briefly during the local anesthesia?) Even if a contracted nose is removed once, contracture can come back, and the columella already seems slightly sunken, so columellar collapse could also happen after removal... If collapse or contracture occurs, another revision would be needed after 6 months (costal cartilage) They said it is not an easy case because there has been a lot of manipulation... Open approach / based on the current condition, the staff said they think nasal packing will be needed for a week... The surgery cost came out at the maximum I had predicted before going! <Consultation 2. [Clinic B]> Reservation was relatively easy to get. * Consultation fee: 10,000 won Consultation order: doctor consultation, staff consultation * Consultation method: palpation, visual examination, explanation with pre-, intra-, and post-op example photos * Both the staff and the doctor were kind. They wrote a lot down. * No parking lot * Consultation contents - It is contracture - Remove the capsule as much as possible - Need to build support (use as much of the previously inserted autologous cartilage as possible and change the direction/angle to create support. That way, after removal, they can minimize deformation) - Uneven nostrils, deformity in the alar area -> likely to remain. The nostrils would be re-adjusted from the current state, so they would try to match them as much as possible, but everyone has some degree of asymmetry. - Open / sedation anesthesia, scar-tissue injections free for 1 year If collapse or contracture occurs, revision surgery would be needed (same thing as [Clinic A]) At the staff consultation, they said that since the nose had already undergone surgery like nostril-lowering, it is not an easy case. I thought the surgery cost at [Clinic B] was reasonable compared with the big three clinics when I saw reviews before, but... because it is a difficult case? It was more expensive than I expected... sigh T_T I expected contracture, but hearing that collapse or contracture can still happen after removal made me a little scared.... I briefly wondered whether I should do the revision first instead of waiting for contracture and collapse, but then I thought that if I do revision, I will probably keep getting complications every few years and have to keep having surgery... so maybe it is better to remove it now T_T Right..? I plan to have the surgery around the end of July! I will only visit these two places and not go anywhere else! (I already narrowed it down by looking at YouTube and reviews before going to consultations) I received a lot of help from consultation and surgery reviews, so I will also try to write about the removal process as thoroughly as possible.
