Everyone, what made you decide to get nose surgery? For me, it was bulbous nose first, bulbous nose second, and bulbous nose third... In photos, it makes my face look flat and wide, and when the lighting is weird (especially in dark bars), the nose shading gets painted on so dark that it looks like charcoal, which makes me feel so awkward. Nose clips, shading, and things like that only refine your original nose a little; they don’t fully solve it... When I wore a nose clip, my nose hurt so much that I even got dizzy. But on important days, I valued a nose clip more than my eyelashes. Since my nose didn’t get chafed and start bleeding, I finally came to my senses... Because my bulbous nose was severe, I thought I would obviously need nasal bridge narrowing, but at every place I consulted, they said I didn’t need it, so I corrected it with silicone + autologous rib only. I kept begging the director right up until the surgery day to please make sure it didn’t look like a bulbous nose anymore, and to remove every bit of that thick, round feeling, but after surgery I suddenly got worried that maybe it had become too high like a swordfish, so I couldn’t sleep properly until the day the splint was removed... (Though honestly, not sleeping well after nose surgery is pretty normal.) And for the nose tip material, I really debated until the very end whether to use donor rib or autologous rib, but even though I had a marathon scheduled this month, I chose autologous rib because I was afraid that if I used donor rib that absorbs well, I’d end up lying on the operating table again a few years later... Also, I couldn’t run the marathon. My autologous rib area did recover faster than I expected, but it still wasn’t healed enough for long-distance running like a marathon, and since I couldn’t practice for a month, I just gave up my entry and got my nose instead. Still, I’ve started running again these days, but I’m only doing it while checking my condition so my body doesn’t get stiff. Because I had the surgery in cold weather, dryness was an issue, so a humidifier was essential, and after surgery I got a lot of nose crusts, but the biggest downside is that I can’t pick them out the way I used to... (Was that too gross? sorry) Oh right, haha, and I once met a man who had had nose surgery before, and if his nose got bumped even a little, he’d freak out saying it was bent, right? Back then that really turned me off, but after getting the surgery myself, I totally get it... It’s basically at the level of protecting my nose from the whole world It’s been about two months since the surgery, and not all the residual swelling has gone down yet, but I’m posting because I wanted to share what life after nose surgery is like. Is everyone else’s life after nose surgery similar...? I’ll think about posting photos once the residual swelling is all gone
