I had my nasal tip removed a long time ago, and it is now day 25 since I had the silicone removed from the nasal bridge! I’ll write the nasal tip removal review separately and the nasal bridge removal review separately.
My natural nose was originally on the long side, but my nasal bridge was low, I had a bulbous nose, and my nasal tip was a drooping arrow-shaped nose. (My nostrils were not visible from the front.)
When I had inflammation at the nasal tip and removed only the nasal tip, I think it returned about 85% to my original natural nasal tip. I think the reason it did not return 100% is because I had nasal length reduction surgery when I had my nose surgery. (I don’t know the surgical principle thoughㅠ) At that time, there was no contracture at all.
When removing the nasal tip, it was removed through an open approach, so I had to have cotton packing and a splint again. Since I had an inflammatory reaction, they may have opened it because irrigation was needed, and I’m not sure whether simple removal can be done through a closed approach.
Also, even though I had complete removal with no implant remaining in the nasal tip, the nasal tip was hard. When I asked, they said it can be hard even with nothing inside because of skin adhesion. It does gradually soften over time, but it is still slightly hard, and I can make a pig nose without any issue.
When removing the silicone from the nasal bridge, the skin on my nasal bridge had become thin, so they placed a thin layer of artificial dermis. If I didn’t place artificial dermis, unevenness of the nasal bridge was almost a given.. I didn’t want to place it, but I placed the minimum, thin amount. They said it has strong resistance to inflammatory reactions, so it would not cause the kind of silicone inflammation people usually think of, and I figured the artificial dermis would be absorbed together with the tissue in my nasal bridge, so there probably wouldn’t be any need to remove it.
For nasal bridge removal, it was a closed surgery, with no splint and only simple taping. Unlike the nasal tip removal, after surgery I could breathe well, and from the day of surgery I could go about daily life without difficulty, just with taping and some swelling.
Until about 2 weeks after surgery, the nasal bridge moved quite severely. (Since the silicone space was empty, it felt like there was air inside the nasal bridge, like a capsule.) I came back after going outside and saw that my nasal bridge was crooked, so I got startled and corrected it with my hand, and then the nasal bridge went back into place.. It moved a lot, quite severely, to that extent. I think this is because the dermis I had added had not settled into place yet.
And now it is day 25 after surgery. The nasal bridge still moves if I touch it, but (according to the doctor, even at one month the nose still has not contracted enough, and it will continue to contract and become lower) it definitely feels like the air space in the nasal bridge has narrowed.
Maybe because I had dermis added, there is no contracture reaction at all. My nasal tip droops, so I actually wish the nasal tip would lift a bit, which is a little disappointing. According to the doctor, because dermis was added, there would be no contracture reaction. Looking at the current condition of my nose, I don’t think it will happen in the future either.
Now that I have had the whole nose removed, if you ask whether it is exactly the same as my natural nose, it is similar but different. First, although it may be because dermis was added to the nasal bridge, unexpectedly the nasal bridge is similar to my natural nose. The nasal tip is more different from my natural nose than I expected. Seeing that the nasal tip I used to take with a retouching app looks similar to the nasal tip I now take with a regular camera, I think the result is pretty good in its own way..
I had complete removal, so why is the nasal tip different? Thinking about it carefully, I can narrow down the possibilities to things like: the septum that was cut during surgery + changes from the nasal tip length reduction surgery + the thin layer of dermis added to the nasal bridge may also have some effect on the nasal tip shape.
Also, after removing the nasal bridge, my midface looks shorter, so this is prettier.. When I had silicone in my nose, I was always only concerned about my midface, but since the starting point of the nasal bridge is lower, I worry less about the midface, which is nice.
It is less pretty than the operated nose, but now I can live with a nose that does not show a white implant on CT, and that is prettier than my natural nose, so I’m really happy!
