<Pre-surgery review>
1st surgery: January 2020 2nd surgery: August 2021 3rd surgery: December 2022
Having a third surgery I never expected has left me feeling unsettled,, I’m writing this surgical review because I hope it may help others too! I wrote notes in my memo app whenever I had time while watching my progress! Please be warned, this is a long post..!
(1st surgery) My skin is fair and thin, but during my first surgery, my nose was raised too aggressively with 4 mm silicone and ear cartilage for the nasal tip. Starting about 6 months later, the ear cartilage at the nasal tip showed through severely, and when I touched the cartilage of my left nasal ala, I felt slight pain, so I decided to undergo revision surgery.
(2nd surgery) The silicone was replaced with 2 mm silicone, the direction of the ear cartilage was changed and lowered, and AlloDerm was used to reduce show-through through the skin. However, around 1 year after surgery, I dropped my phone onto my nose, and the area that had slightly shown through became worse, and the outline of the silicone started to become visible. I thought it would be fine since a year had passed, but my skin kept getting thinner, so I began thinking that I might only be okay if I removed the silicone and lowered the nasal tip more. While debating between complete removal and partial removal, I learned about a plastic surgery clinic where my friend’s nasal tip surgery had turned out well.
(3rd surgery (plastic surgery clinic)) Because this was my third surgery, I was emotionally very exhausted, so I went in for a consultation with complete removal and partial removal in mind. When I went into the consultation after organizing my concerns in my memo app, Dr. Kim Se-young personally read each point one by one and answered them. I had only had surgery with ear cartilage, but my nose felt hard compared with other friends, so when I asked why, the doctor explained it together with a book he uses. That reduced my fear about foreign materials, and he explained things in a way that made the cause easy to understand, which resonated more with me because I was emotionally worn out, so I booked the surgery. For this third surgery, I had the 2 mm silicone removed, part of the ear cartilage at the nasal tip removed so there would be no show-through or step-off deformity, and buttock dermis used for the nasal tip.
Day of surgery: After fasting for 3 hours, I went to the plastic surgery clinic at the scheduled surgery time. It had been almost a month since my consultation, so before surgery I had time to talk again in detail with Dr. Kim Se-young about the nasal design. Since my skin is thin, we proceeded with removing the existing silicone, which was about 2 mm, removing part of the ear cartilage at the nasal tip, and using buttock dermis for the nasal tip~
1 week after surgery: During the week after surgery, I visited the hospital about 4 times for progress checks! The doctor personally disinfected and checked the surgical area, so I trusted him even more haha. There is still some bruising on the nasal bridge and beside my eyes, but I’m really satisfied because I think I got the plump, natural-looking nasal tip I wanted, connected naturally with the nasal bridge too ㅠㅠ. I won’t know the final nose shape until the swelling goes down over a long period of 1 to 2 years, but I’m happy that the areas I was worried about seem to be recovering well!! I hope the nose shape still looks natural after the swelling goes down haha. Since this was my third surgery, I was very nervous, but maybe because the doctor took such good care of me, even though the silicone has now been removed, my nose shape looks more natural.
<Week 2>
The swelling is definitely going down more compared with week 1, and the connection between the nasal bridge and nasal tip has become more natural. The bruising in the center of the nasal bridge and under my eyes is now fading yellow, so I think it will be completely unnoticeable if I cover it with makeup from now on. Before surgery, the unnatural nasal bridge and pointed nasal tip showed a lot in photos, which stressed me out, but now the nasal tip is round and there seems to be plump tissue there, so I really like it. People around me also say the line after removing the silicone is prettier than before, so I regret not having the surgery sooner,, Because of my previous surgery, my hump had been shaved down, but maybe because it was shaved only mildly, it doesn’t really show!! Rather, I like that it looks smoother and has some contour, which makes it look more natural~ The suture area on my buttock also hurts less when I sit now, and it seems to be healing gradually, so I’m relieved! I hope the nose shape becomes even more natural and pretty as the swelling gradually goes down~ (Honestly, I already like it so much now lol Even if it stopped here..)
<3-week review at the plastic surgery clinic>
It’s already been 3 weeks since I had surgery with Dr. Kim Se-young at the plastic surgery clinic. The swelling and bruising are almost all gone now, and my nose is plump and smooth, so I’m satisfied haha. Everyone who knows I had silicone removal and dermis surgery this time says my nose looks more natural and prettier now!! I also feel that my current plump and moderately smooth nose shape suits me better, so I’m very satisfied. I think it’s thanks to Dr. Kim Se-young designing it carefully before surgery ㅠㅠ There are still dissolvable sutures inside my nose, so I keep disinfecting it, but aside from slight pain when I touch it, it has gotten much better. After about 3 weeks, my buttock no longer hurts when I sit, and the scar did not remain as dark as I expected, so I think I made the right choice having surgery safely with autologous tissue~! I have a family wedding in week 4, one week from now, so I hope it becomes even more natural~ haha
