1. [Clinic A] said it was not contracture but a small nose that had become lifted because something was inserted even though nothing should have been added. Removing the silicone and repositioning the tip might improve the nostrils somewhat, but asymmetry could remain. They said my face was originally misaligned, which caused the asymmetry. Ear cartilage could be used, and Megaderm could raise the bridge. They said inserting costal cartilage into a small nose would cause serious problems. 2. [Clinic B] said it was contracture. Ear cartilage and tip repositioning were needed. When I said [Clinic A] had told me it was not contracture, they said the diagnostic criteria differed. 3. [Clinic C] said my deviated septum caused uneven nostrils and nasal deformity, and that the contracture was very severe. If left longer, it would continue progressing. Ear cartilage would solve only one of the three problems, while costal cartilage would solve them all. I really do not want to use costal cartilage, but hearing about it again has left me confused. All three clinics said completely different things. [Clinic A] said the nostril asymmetry was because my face itself was asymmetrical, while [Clinic C] said it was because my septum was severely deviated. (When I had a CT at [Clinic D], they also said it was a septum problem.) Also, [Clinic A] said I absolutely should not use costal cartilage, while [Clinic C] said it was necessary. The opinions are so different that I am confused.... But I really hate the idea of using costal cartilage. What should I do? Has anyone had only removal or ear cartilage surgery after being recommended costal cartilage at [Clinic C] ([Doctor A])?
