Review of buried-suture double eyelid surgery after almost 2 years

Around Lunar New Year in 2021, I had double eyelid surgery by the buried-suture method + upper epicanthoplasty A review after almost 2 years...

My eyes gradually started feeling heavy, so I kept opening my eyes with my forehead. At night, when I relaxed and the tension in my forehead released, half of my field of vision would get covered, so I wondered if it was ptosis and started considering eye shape correction.

I found a place said to do natural-looking work well and went for a consultation with a light heart, but instead of eye shape correction, they recommended incisional double eyelid surgery, and I was devastated... because one of my friends had double eyelid surgery by incision and it looked very obviously incisional... I really didn’t want an incision, but they said I had too much upper eyelid fat, so if I did the buried-suture method it would come undone quickly and wasn’t possible... They also recommended medial epicanthoplasty (and fat removal too).

At the time, I was just going to have the consultation and schedule a date right away, but when they said incision was the only answer, I studied up and booked another appointment at a clinic that had reviews from people with eyes similar to mine (this is where I had the surgery).

First of all, they said my eyes were suitable for the buried-suture method, and that it wasn’t ptosis but that I was opening my eyes with my forehead because I had too much upper eyelid fat. They also recommended upper epicanthoplasty. They told me to think about fat removal after the double eyelid surgery, so I trusted them and scheduled the date right away.

On the long-awaited surgery day, they did local anesthesia after sedation anesthesia. It felt like it ended very quickly, and it didn’t hurt at all. After recovering for a bit, I went home. It was hard to look in the mirror, but I was satisfied with the line. Since it was buried-suture, recovery was fast too, and people around me didn’t really notice until I told them haha. I used to wear double eyelid tape/glue, so... It was that scar-free and very natural, so I was extremely satisfied

Honestly, I was most satisfied at the one-month mark when there was still a moderate amount of swelling, but once the swelling went down, the line did get a bit hidden because of my upper eyelid fat... Still, opening my eyes is so much easier and the fatigue has decreased a lot, so I really, really think I did the right thing by getting it done!!
