After passing day 20, taking photos and checking the progress gradually became a hassle, so I just lived my real life, and before I knew it, it was almost a month, so I’m posting this,! The line feels like it has settled, and I still don’t know whether it will change more or become thinner from here ㅠ I think around one month is when most of the overall swelling goes down. If there is any remaining minor swelling, it will probably continue to go down until around 3 months. Also, the lines look uneven between my eyes, but I’m not the type to care too much, so I’m just letting it be haha;
So for friends who haven’t been long since surgery, I think even week 2 is too early to judge… I was really stressed about the swelling, but it does go down eventually.. (If you look at my previous posts, my feelings are very clearly shown)
I was also really worried that my double eyelids would become sausage-like, but for now, once the swelling went down a bit, it doesn’t really feel that way, though my line is on the higher side. Even if celebrities’ visible lines look thin from the outside, when they close their eyes, the lines are high. Make sure you know this well before surgery (I didn’t know this)
*And something important! At first, the hospital also recommended medial epicanthoplasty because of my epicanthal folds, you know? But in my opinion, the space between my eyes didn’t seem wide, and even though I had epicanthal folds, my eyes were already naturally big and open, so I thought I didn’t need it and only got buried suture double eyelid surgery. (I thought about it a lot until right before surgery) And because if medial epicanthoplasty is done wrong, the impression can look stronger, and I didn’t want them opened too much, I called the hospital a few days before surgery to ask. I asked whether it was possible to do just a little medial epicanthoplasty. But the hospital said that if they were going to open it, they had to open it all the way, so that made me even more certain that I shouldn’t do it. Now, after double eyelid surgery, the front part of my eyes folds upward, so it seems to have an opening effect too, and since it looks more natural than if it had been done surgically, I’m glad I didn’t do it. And I also feel like my epicanthal folds improved a little. Before double eyelid surgery, the fold looked like it came down a lot, but now, because the double eyelid surgery lifted it, it feels like it was pulled upward and improved, should I say? (And my epicanthal folds weren’t even that severe, but every hospital seemed to see them as being on the severe side…)
If, like me, the distance between your eyes is appropriate but medial epicanthoplasty was recommended because of epicanthal folds, think carefully! If the appropriate distance between your eyes suddenly becomes smaller after surgery, they may look close together, so you could regret it, and your impression can change a lot. Medial epicanthoplasty can be done later too, so make sure to do it after enough consideration! (If the distance between the eyes is very wide or the epicanthal folds seriously block the front of the eyes, then it did seem good to do)
Due to my situation, I couldn’t go to Seoul and had it done at a local clinic, but when I remember the consultation details from the few places I visited, every place I went recommended medial epicanthoplasty or upper epicanthoplasty, and for double eyelid surgery, buried suture or partial incision, But there was also a place that designed the upper epicanthoplasty + line very dramatically, but I didn’t go there because the price was ambiguous, and I think it was good that I didn’t go… If your upper eyelid area has some flesh, or your eyes are protruding and your skin is thick, etc., then when setting the line, you really need to consult well with the doctor so you don’t end up with sausage eyes..
