Before-before-after-afterBefore surgery, my nose had been operated on 15 years ago. It looked deviated to one side, the nasal tip was pinched and drooping. I also had a slightly bulbous nose. I also had rhinitis, so while looking into revision surgery along with rhinitis surgery, I went around to 5 places for consultations, and this was the last place I visited through a referral. I went after seeing the reasonable cost and the pretty nose shape of the person who referred me. The director did not overly recommend this and that, and spoke honestly. Since I had already been to several places, I knew my nose condition to some extent. Some other places added on all kinds of things, so I had also received quite high estimates. Since my original nasal bridge was low and weak, no osteotomy, and because if the nasal tip is lifted, the nostril wings would naturally lift along with it, he did not recommend alar reduction either. My midface was on the longer side. About 8 cm. So I said I wanted my nose to look shorter. I had to match the surgery date as much as possible, and thankfully the consultant coordinated and fit me in even for the last time slot, so I was able to book the day I wanted. After thinking about it, I decided on the day of surgery that I would do alar reduction.
Alar reduction. 6 mm silicone implant (in the photo, the pre-op nose had a 4 mm silicone implant). Nasal tip cartilage suturing. Revision surgery using donated costal cartilage, and separately (not included in the surgery cost), I had botox for pebble chin and mouth corners, and 2 cc Rejuran on the butterfly zone. During the pre-op consultation with the director, I printed out several photos of Shin Se-kyung’s nose and straight-with-slight-curve noses, and the director said Shin Se-kyung’s nose would be difficult for my nose.. I honestly liked that he told me frankly. I knew it too... lol I said please take good care of me and came out, then lay down in the operating room, had the IV needle inserted, and fell asleep while they were applying protective eye ointment. It all passed in a blur.
More than pain, it was hard because my nostrils were blocked. Breathing through my mouth made my throat extremely dry, and I kept waking up while sleeping. Two days later, when the cotton was removed, it felt sooooo refreshing~~~~~~~ After surgery, I have been sleeping half-sitting with a back cushion, 3 pillows, and a small cushion, and swelling and bruising were very minimal, almost none.
Every time I visit, the director says, 'Hello nose, are you staying safe and well?' He checks it as if greeting it, which I really like. Depending on the nose condition, he prescribes things like swelling injections or medication. I went in at week 2, and since the nasal bridge was more swollen than other areas, he checked whether there might be pooled blood, treated it right away, gave me an injection, prescribed medication, and told me to come back in 3 days. At some places it is even hard to see the director after surgery, but seeing him carefully check and treat me even after the surgery was over really put me at ease, and once again I thought I was glad I did it here.
