Hello. It has now been about two months since I received double-jaw and facial contouring surgery from Dr. Kim at [Clinic A]. Before surgery, my bite did not align well due to malocclusion and facial asymmetry, and my chewing function and pronunciation were not very good. My long jaw and overall flat-looking face also kept bothering me, so at first I tried to solve it with orthodontics. The orthodontic clinics and oral and maxillofacial surgery clinics I visited repeatedly said I was a case requiring double-jaw surgery, but I strongly hoped things could improve with orthodontics alone if possible. Once I actually started orthodontic treatment, I found that although tooth alignment could be corrected to some extent, there were limits to correcting asymmetry of the facial bones themselves, and it was difficult to achieve a perfect bite. There was also less external change than I had hoped for. Then I began looking up many reviews on YouTube from people who, like me, had double-jaw surgery due to malocclusion or facial asymmetry. As I kept watching their transformations, I felt I should get a consultation too, and ultimately decided on surgery.
I chose [Clinic A] largely because the doctors explained double-jaw surgery in detail on YouTube, and their actual surgical results looked natural and trustworthy. I was especially impressed that, unlike other hospitals, I could see them directly fabricate and prepare the surgical stents so the surgical plan could be accurately reflected in the operation. I also frequently looked through patients' pre- and postoperative facial-bone CT scans, models' results, and before-and-after photos of double-jaw contouring surgery on social media such as Instagram and YouTube. Seeing various cases helped me estimate the degree of change I might have after surgery. Honestly, if I had considered only the functional aspects, I probably could not have easily chosen surgery because of recovery and the cost of double-jaw surgery. However, I wanted a hospital with specialists who could address not only functional issues such as malocclusion and occlusion, but also cosmetic concerns, taking facial asymmetry and the overall impression into account. That is why I ultimately decided to have surgery at [Clinic A].
It has now been two months since my double-jaw and contouring surgery. Sensation in my teeth and palate has returned to normal, and aside from occasional muscle tightness, I am recovering without major functional discomfort haha. Above all, it makes me happy every time I look in the mirror these days because I can see my face shape changing as the swelling gradually goes down! My bones have not fully healed yet, so I am still careful with food. My temples sometimes hurt a little when I wear the wafer, T_T, but I can feel my bite steadily improving, so I am hanging in there haha. I am just waiting to recover a little more, have my bite settle properly, and comfortably eat meat again!!
