1. Pre-procedure concerns I naturally had some nasal bridge height, but my nasal tip drooped downward, making my nose look hooked when I smiled, which was a complex for me. My biggest concern was that my nose looked lower in side-profile photos when I smiled.
2. Consultation experience I had heard it was best to visit several places for consultations before cosmetic surgery, so I made a long list myself. Gift Plastic Surgery was my first consultation, and after consulting with Dr. Yoo Ki-hyun, I set a surgery date immediately without even visiting anywhere else. The consultation was that good. Other plastic-surgery clinics seemed to have doctors with very fixed tastes and preferred styles, so I felt I would have to follow the aesthetic the clinic pursued rather than the look I wanted. (I often heard people say that they could tell where someone had their nose done just by looking at it.) I disliked that, and I wanted rhinoplasty that simply suited my current face so much that I did not even bring celebrity photos. I also did not want silicone. Since it was my first surgery and I felt resistant to putting an implant in my nose, I emphasized that point. I heard that other clinics usually pressure patients to use implants, but Dr. Yoo Ki-hyun understood my needs well and shaped the plan exactly accordingly. There was no pressure that I absolutely had to do this or do it that way; the consultation focused entirely on bringing out the look I wanted. That made me trust him even more, and I decided right away.
3. Procedure results As it was my first surgery ever, I was really nervous. I worried that it would hurt a lot once the anesthesia wore off, and after reading many surgical reviews saying people could barely brush their teeth, I prepared mouthwash and even a children's toothbrush. But I simply fell asleep for surgery and woke up with everything done, and there was no pain at all. I felt so completely fine that I wondered whether I had really had rhinoplasty. Since there was hardly any pain, I even tore into fried chicken and ate it that evening before going to sleep, haha. Contrary to my concern that I would not be able to brush my teeth, I brushed three times a day just fine with my usual toothbrush. The packing was removed the next day, so breathing was not a major problem either. There was no pain or discomfort, so I even returned to work two days after surgery, haha. There was so little discomfort that I wondered whether surgery just suited my constitution. The swelling also visibly went down a lot within a week. After my rhinoplasty, I was asked very often where I had it done. I am still extremely satisfied, and I have never had any issue with my nose since. I had surgery with only autologous costal cartilage and no implant, and seeing results like this makes me wonder why I waited so long.
4. Overall review Honestly, there are a few clinics people talk about a lot for rhinoplasty, and I was slightly concerned because Gift Plastic Surgery was not widely known yet. But now, what I say most is that I chose my clinic really well. Every clinic may do its best for patients, but I was impressed by Gift Plastic Surgery's delicacy and Dr. Yoo Ki-hyun's attentiveness. Since every face has different features, I think the best approach is surgery tailored to one's own face, and it is good to go somewhere that understands those needs well. Clinics may promote only the area operated on and focus on that one part, but I think the face needs to be viewed as a whole. In that respect, I thought Gift Plastic Surgery was excellent. From the day of my surgery, I decided to call Dr. Yoo Ki-hyun my dad, haha.
