Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

One-month review of protruding-mouth surgery and chin-tip surgery

Since middle school, my protruding mouth had been a complex. I lacked confidence in my profile, so I tried to avoid showing it and let people see me only from the front. This kept lowering my self-esteem. In high school, I wore a mask during COVID and did not think much about it, but after returning from military service, I began deliberating over my protruding mouth again. When I searched, I learned there was a surgery for protruding mouth. I decided I wanted to change and could not live my whole life hiding my profile, so I started looking into clinics. After visiting several clinics and thinking it over carefully, I chose Yangyundol Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It was the first clinic I had looked into, and during the consultation I felt that the director and consultant genuinely tried to understand my personal concerns and situation. At one point, the clinic asked me to send a photo of someone I wanted to resemble. I had never had anyone in mind, so I impulsively sent a photo of Cha Eun-woo. After that, I also sent photos of various people I thought looked good—probably four or five people in total. The consultant was not inconvenienced at all; instead, she kindly explained the differences and features of the people in the photos, step by step, in a way that was easy for me to understand. I think that was what led me to choose this clinic. I stayed at the clinic for one day after surgery. On the day itself, I did feel somewhat sore, but aside from being unable to eat, there was no major discomfort. I also felt reassured because the staff provided care for 24 hours. I suddenly had difficulty breathing and panicked, but they checked me immediately, which reassured me. For one week after discharge, it hurt somewhat. I could not eat properly, and there was bleeding from my mouth, so I was worried. But even after I was discharged, the staff continued to care for me through KakaoTalk. I was truly grateful that they replied even late at night. The pain began to subside from week 2 and seemed to disappear from week 3. The swelling also seemed to begin gradually going down from week 3. The area around my philtrum seemed to stay swollen a little longer than other areas. Until just before one month, I ate only porridge, followed only what the clinic instructed, and was as careful with my mouth as possible. To talk about the course from one month onward: I started orthodontic treatment as soon as one month passed, and I am eating more varied foods while using only my molars. Sometimes when I look in the mirror, I realize how much my appearance has changed. I used to avoid my profile because I thought it looked so unsophisticated, but now I am no longer ashamed of it. I had not realized it, but apparently I had both a protruding mouth and a weak chin. I had been concerned only about the protruding mouth and did not even know I had a weak chin, but the chin clearly seems to have a major impact. Once I had a chin, my profile definitely looked more masculine. So I am very satisfied with both the protruding-mouth surgery and the chin-tip surgery. It is so nice not to worry anymore about someone taking my photo or looking at me from the side, and I think my self-esteem has increased too. In this respect, I truly feel I made the right choice in having surgery. If you are deliberating over surgery, at least try a consultation at Yangyundol Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. It can be very helpful. And unlike me, do not just send a photo of Cha Eun-woo on impulse—consider who you truly want to resemble. Satisfaction can be higher when you achieve the exact impression you want.
