At first, I paid very close attention to my progress month by month, but these days I am simply living as usual!! lol I had double-jaw surgery with Dr. A at [Clinic A] near Sinsa Station, and I am now at month 9! Before surgery, my malocclusion was fairly severe, so I often had pain around my molars, and as my jaw continued to grow, it caused me quite a lot of appearance-related stress T_T. Because the discomfort from my bite kept continuing as well, I thought I would have to resolve this someday, and after much deliberation, I decided on double-jaw surgery! Rather than plastic-surgery clinics, I diligently looked mainly for places specializing in double-jaw surgery. At first I learned about [Clinic A] through blogs and online Q&A, and afterward I looked up many different reviews in online communities too lol. After comparing and researching diligently in my own way, I chose it because I thought I could trust this place for surgery! From about six months after surgery, I became so comfortable that I could barely remember the temporomandibular joint pain and malocclusion-related stress that had troubled me so much before surgery haha. It feels as if I had lived comfortably like this my whole life... I guess humans really are creatures of forgetfulness lol. I definitely remember that the first month of recovery had discomfort and was difficult, but when I think about it now, I can barely remember how I got through that time lol. Still, as my bite became comfortable and I could feel it becoming functionally stable, it felt as though all my hardship had been rewarded!! At month 7, I finally completed the long orthodontic treatment and had my braces removed! Personally, I felt that the whole process was truly over only after both double-jaw surgery and orthodontics were finished, and after the braces came off, I felt that my lip contour had become much more natural than before haha. At that time, even when I smiled broadly in the mirror, it hardly felt awkward, and people around me often said I did not look like I had surgery and looked naturally better, which made me shy whenever I heard it haha! By month 8, about a month after orthodontics ended, I had completely adapted to the condition of my face and teeth. There was no strange or uncomfortable feeling inside my mouth, and my bite and eating sensation were stable, so I was doing well as usual!! Surgery, recovery, and then orthodontics... Looking back, it was quite a long process, but as I completed each part, I felt that my double-jaw-surgery journey was finally really coming to an end lol. And now, at month 9, all sensation in my chin tip and around my lips that had remained slightly diminished has returned! At first it felt dull, and I occasionally felt tingling, so I wondered when it would all be okay, but time really was the answer haha. Now, whether drinking water or eating, and even when touching around my cheeks or jaw, there is no foreign sensation; it just feels like my original face ^^v. With sensation restored, making facial expressions is much more comfortable too! Looking back from when I was deliberating over double-jaw surgery because of malocclusion through surgery, recovery, and orthodontics, it really was a long journey. Now that I think those stages are almost all over, I feel both relieved and wistful. Still, I am proud that it seems to have ended successfully both functionally and cosmetically!!
