Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

I Put Off Double-Jaw Surgery for Years.... After Half a Year, My Pre-Surgery Face Feels Unfamiliar haha

It has now been 6 months since I had double-jaw surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at [Clinic A]^^ Since childhood, I had some stress due to malocclusion. But when I was young, I heard so many stories about double-jaw surgery being extremely dangerous and scary, including its potential side effects, that I simply gave up and lived with it. Recently, though, surgical techniques have improved a lot, and there are more clinics and medical teams specializing in double-jaw surgery, so I began looking into it again. I liked [Clinic A], and thought that if I was going to do it, I should do it before it was any later, so I decided to have surgery~^^

I did quite a bit of research, consulting at several well-known clinics. I watched many videos online and various double-jaw surgery reviews, but [Clinic A] resonated with me the most. It felt trustworthy and comfortable. During the actual consultation, Dr. Kim Jong-yoon and the coordinator also explained things in the easiest way for me to understand, and they clearly answered my questions, so I decided to proceed here.

Below is a summary of my postoperative course^^

At around 2 months after surgery, I was still actively recovering. Still, compared with the early postoperative period, I was much better, and I gradually began to notice the changes in my face myself. But people around me did not notice as much as I expected lol. A few friends only asked why my cheeks were a little swollen, and most people did not seem to notice at all haha. I still needed more time for a full recovery then, but it was nice to feel that I had returned to everyday life to some extent. I could also feel sensation gradually returning, even if only very slightly. The difficult part was not being able to eat meat freely. Sometimes I wanted a beer too, but I held back from that as well lol. Still, since I had the surgery, recovering well was important, so I tried to hang in there a little longer~

At around 4 months, the best thing was that I could eat almost freely again, about 80–90%. It was much better than I expected haha. At 3 months, I saw Dr. Kim Jong-yoon and reviewed my X-rays together; he said the bones were healing well and recovery was progressing well. He also said it was okay to eat everything now, which was very reassuring. The swelling had gone down a great deal too, and from then on people rarely said my face looked swollen. There were areas where sensation had returned a tiny bit less, but not enough to feel inconvenient in daily life. And I definitely feel that my face looks smaller than before, which is nice lol.

As time passed, it has now been half a year since surgery. At 6 months, I am living almost exactly as I did before surgery. I do not feel inconvenienced by the double-jaw surgery in daily life, and my current face has become so familiar that I barely remember my old face haha. When I occasionally look at old photos, only then do I think, “Oh, I used to look like this,” lol^^

At this 6-month follow-up, I also saw Dr. Kim Jong-yoon and reviewed the CT scan together. Thankfully, the bones had all healed well and there were no problems~ They told me I still need to take good care of myself through the one-year mark, so I plan to continue doing so. The only thing left later is removal of the double-jaw surgery plates, and that should be fine once I schedule it well.

I had a lot of stress from malocclusion since childhood and postponed double-jaw surgery for a long time because I was scared, but already 6 months have passed since surgery lol. Looking back, time goes by so quickly. I will continue taking good care of myself during the remaining period. Thank you, Dr. Kim Jong-yoon, for performing such an excellent surgery both functionally and aesthetically.
