I’m considering a 3rd revision rhinoplasty.. My first nose surgery was around 13 years ago at a local place At that time, it was done with artificial cartilage (nasal ala) + silicone (nasal bridge) Not long after, pus fell from my nose like water. They used artificial cartilage bigger than my nose, so I had side effects...
For the second one, after removing everything, about a year later I think they used cartilage and silicone? again ㅠㅠ I don’t remember well ㅠㅠ But I carried it around well for 9 years with no side effects.. until now..
The reason I’ve made up my mind for a 3rd surgery now is that the design is too old-fashioned.. kind of like Uhm Jung-hwa’s nose? It has that characteristic bulbous nose? natural nose feel you got from surgery in the past when they used ear cartilage, so I don’t like it..
But!!! Looking at YouTube, forums, etc., it seems the current trend is using either donor rib cartilage or autologous costal cartilage.. From what I read, it seems like there’s nobody who used donor rib cartilage and didn’t get side effects.. Since I’ve already had side effects from artificial cartilage, I should definitely use autologous costal cartilage, right? Ah.. The higher surgery cost is also burdensome, but I could think of it as, since I’m already under anesthesia and lying down, they’re making one more incision.. Still, having to open up another place besides my nose is also burdensome ㅠㅠ Sigh.. What did those of you with experience think, and how did you proceed? ㅠㅠ
