Consultation fee: They said there is a 30,000 won fee, but I waited a long time so they just didn’t charge me
I had consultations about the eye hollows, frontal sinus, forehead lift, and volume
I went today, and my first impression was... first, there were more transgender people than I expected
Second, there were an incredible number of Japanese people. I think I saw about 5
And there were also people coming for revision surgery. I guess they’re famous for foreheads..? Maybe..?
Anyway, the consultation review...
Unexpectedly, it felt like they told me everything I was going to ask first
They showed before-and-after photos for everything, like side effects, what method they use, and what it feels like after surgery
They explained all the reasons: why they excise the corrugator muscles, why they make it this way, and why they perform the surgery this way
While showing other clinics’ surgical methods... (it was a drawing, but super gory;;), the consultant explained why their clinic does it this way
I did think it seemed like a fairly reasonable method. Other overseas clinics usually dissect starting from the crown of the head down to the eye hollow, almost like peeling the skin off, then just peel it back and
perform bone shaving, but here they make about 3-5 minimal incisions inside the hairline and go in with an endoscope, minimizing the dissection too... that kind of thing, apparently
But they don’t particularly fixate the area where the frontal sinus osteotomy is done, so if nonunion occurs, when strong respiratory pressure is applied, like during deep breathing or blowing your nose, the glabella area
can bulge in and out, they said. They said it’s not something that happens just from breathing normally
Things like nerves not coming back 100%... other people wouldn’t know, but I am a bit worried about that
If nonunion happens, they said they do provide aftercare. I think it was plasma injections or something... they said they induce the bone to fuse with that
They said nonunion happens in about... 30% of cases. But the consultant said they haven’t yet seen the worst-case scenario where the bone hardens while collapsed and leaves a depression that has to be filled with fat grafting.
And for surgery, they tell you to decide and come back with one of these: 1 - completely dramatic, accepting the risk of side effects / 2 - middle ground / 3 - very safe, but only a little effect
If you’re scared, you can choose option 2 or 3, and if you’re willing to accept the risk, option 1 seems fine
But what bothered me a bit was... they talked about the director almost as if they were praising him too much.. Everything was fine, but they spoke so positively that it made me a little uneasy.
And the consultant seems to have a lot of pride in the clinic and surgical technique...
Still, they don’t pressure you or demand anything. They just tell you the price and surgical method, and first say, “Would you like to think about it and come back~?”
They don’t pressure you into booking the same day, and it seems like they try to accommodate you somewhat
In my case, bone shaving isn’t possible, so I feel like there’s no method other than here, so I think I’ll probably have surgery
ㄹㅂ and ㅇㅍㅅㅌ only do shaving.. and on top of that, ㅇㅍㅅㅌ only does the eye hollows, so I feel like the balance wouldn’t match, so I don’t think I can do it there...
