I had gotten quite a lot of piercings in both ears, and not long afterward, raised flesh appeared on my ears. At first, with a tough-girl mindset, I thought it was just a wound healing and ignored it, but it was a keloid... Since I left it untreated, it gradually grew into something grotesque. I had several injections at a local dermatology clinic, but it grew again, so I eventually had surgery. My job requires meeting many people, so having something like this on my ear made me more self-conscious... I thought removing such a large lump would hurt terribly, but with anesthesia it was not extremely painful. It did sting a little after the anesthesia wore off. They told me to wash around my ear with water when I got home, so I did that. I had seen so many posts saying ear-keloid surgery would deform the ear or make it look strange, so I was honestly very scared, but it is healing neatly without any of that. Having that enormous lump gone is unbelievably relieving lol. Thinking about how much distress this caused me, I never want to think about it again...
