The doctor seemed very proud of himself, but I also got the impression that his information was a bit slow to update. He said that if there is no septal cartilage, donor rib cartilage is the only option, and that ear cartilage will definitely sag. The manager also kept saying ear cartilage would sag while talking about cases where only ear cartilage was placed at the tip, but who does that anymore these days... you use an ear cartilage support... When I said that, they looked a bit blank. The doctor recommended donor rib cartilage, but said ear cartilage support is weak, and that if you use a double layer the support can improve, but because it’s a double layer it becomes hard. So I asked whether donor rib cartilage is still rib cartilage anyway and wouldn’t it be harder than using double ear cartilage, but he avoided answering that part. It was a clinic that left me wondering a bit why they were so unwilling to use ear cartilage.
