First of all, I swear on everything that this is absolutely not an ad or broker post. I won’t write the hospital name either. While writing this, I want to share information and write down what I felt. When I was looking into plastic surgery, every single post like this felt so precious to me, so I hope this helps someone. First, I had chin tip + side line + liposuction, and I did it with a pinless method.
Q. Why did you decide to have surgery? A. My occlusion was fine, but my chin tip was long and protruded a bit forward, especially when I smiled. How much of a complex was it? I always had thoughts like, “What if random people passing by only look at my chin?” stuck in my head, and when I smiled, the protrusion looked worse, so I always covered my mouth when laughing. I hated it more than anything when someone saw my side profile, and photos taken by others? I absolutely never took them. If I happened to be photographed, I just asked them to delete it. Even when taking selfies, I absolutely never took them from angles where my chin looked prominent. I never wore high-neck tops because my chin stood out. I couldn’t wear my hair straight either. I didn’t wear bangs. ••• There were really many more things too.
Q. How did you choose the hospital? A. I went to consultations at about 6 places, and I chose this one because I was most drawn to it. First, I looked for a place that wasn’t a large hospital, had an anesthesiologist on site, prioritized safety, and focused on natural-looking results. I looked through every review I could find for this hospital on communities, open chats, and apps. First, it seemed like there were no medical accidents, and most people seemed satisfied, so I chose it. But after looking more, I also found people who regretted doing it here. They said the director really likes short chins, so he cut theirs too short. But when I look at mine now, it doesn’t feel short, so it’s okay.. Will it get shorter as time passes? I think part of it may also be because my philtrum is naturally very short. But when reading open chats even for famous hospitals, it seems like there is at least one dissatisfied person. When you think about it, how could everyone possibly be satisfied.. I think it’s right to go around to several consultations, find a place whose aesthetic sense matches yours, and choose somewhere safe.
Q. Why did you do shaving instead of T-osteotomy? A. Honestly, I didn’t search like crazy while comparing everything properly.. I think I chose it because I wouldn’t have to remove pins later. When I looked more, some people said pinless involves a wider dissection range, so it can be shaved down better. But I also saw people saying you should absolutely never do setback after T-osteotomy. In the end, both pinless and T-osteotomy have their own pros and cons.
Q. Surgery review? A. It has only been 18 days since surgery, so I need to keep watching much longer for side effects and everything, but from the moment I came out of the operating room, the protruding chin was completely improved, so I was really, really satisfied. But because of swelling, my lower jaw overall still looks like it sticks out This is gradually going down.. It’ll get better with time, right? Hmm.. So far, aside from the protruding chin going inward, the side line still looks puffier than before. Since I had liposuction too, the liposuction area is a bit hard.. Looking at reviews, people said this also gets better with time. As for the nerve damage I was worried about, I’m not sure yet. I have sensation everywhere when I touch it. Oh, about 3 cm under my chin had no sensation at first, but it seems to be gradually coming back little by little. But the chin tip area looks like an orange-peel chin? cobblestone chin? I don’t know if it’ll disappear.. Looking at reviews, some people said it doesn’t go away. I feel like there isn’t a video or post related to facial contouring that I haven’t watched or read. Just, overall, what I feel is: If you do facial contouring, I think sagging naturally comes. There are many people who say, “The sagging is so severe that I don’t recommend it.” I’m curious how much it sags for them to say that. Or I wonder if, because they already know they had facial contouring, they perceive the sagging more sensitively as severe. Of course, that’s a hasty judgment because I haven’t experienced it myself. These days, beauty standards have become so, so high. If there is even a little wrinkle, people do fillers and lifting.. I wonder if we feel more sensitive because things we didn’t even notice before are now viral everywhere. + I also felt again that appearance-related obsession is so severe in Korea.. I joined a lot of facial contouring open chats, and although there is a lot of information sharing, if you read them all day, it feels like you’ll develop appearance-related obsession too.. Later, once time passes and I adapt to the facial contouring surgery, I’m planning to leave the group chat right away. If someone asked, “Would you rather live with your previous chin? Or live with the chin moved inward while accepting a little sagging + cobblestone chin?” I would of course choose the latter. I think having a shorter chin with a little sagging would be better.. Honestly, when I read side-effect posts, I get really scared too, and I still think this is a war with swelling and sagging. But when I think about the stress I had before, I feel like I would have had facial contouring surgery someday anyway. I had so much I wanted to say that I think I wrote it without much structure, but I’m not sure if it came across well. I’ll come back and write again after checking my progress!
