I didn’t have much facial volume, so I was thinking about getting fat grafting and went to consultations at 3 places. Since I didn’t know anyone around me who had cosmetic surgery, I relied on internet searches, and narrowed it down to clinics with board-certified plastic surgeons. The clinics I visited were in Sinsa-dong to Apgujeong.
1. ㅌo ㅍ I talked with the consultation coordinator, then with the doctor, then the coordinator again... like that. Right when I arrived, they had me fill out something like a survey first, to figure out what the patient wants. When I said I wanted natural-looking fat grafting, the consultation felt tailored in that direction. They said the lower part of my face was quite hollow, so they recommended filling the area around the mouth without overdoing it, and they didn’t strongly recommend the temples. They said it would be better to decide that after seeing how things go. Because of my age, they also recommended thread lifting. They said it might be good to insert long threads from the jaw area upward. The cost was 1.8 million won for the first round only, with extra charges for thread lifting and the second fat grafting. The doctor examined my face in detail and took time thinking through the consultation, which I liked. They showed me with drawings where on my face it would be good to add volume, and seemed to try to match what the customer wants as closely as possible.
2. ㅍ ㄹ ㅅ There is a 10,000 won consultation fee here, and they made me sign paperwork as soon as I arrived. I think that document was about disputes if cosmetic side effects occur... Here too, I saw the consultation coordinator first, then waited about 20 minutes before the doctor came. They recommended the forehead, temples, cheeks... a full face approach. They also recommended thread lifting across the whole face. For the second round, you can choose between fresh fat and frozen fat, and the thread lifting cost is higher. (It seems more threads are used.) The doctor had a kind of plump, energetic feel? When I compared the cost of fresh fat + thread lifting for rounds 1 and 2, it was about the same as place 1. Overall, this place seems to have a more glamorous style, like they do things decisively??
3. ㄹ No consultation fee, and even getting a consultation appointment is very difficult. They only schedule consultations after 2 p.m., and apparently the consultation slots are already booked about a month out. The clinic is the smallest and most compact? and here there is no consultation coordinator, so you consult directly with the doctor. I was surprised when I first saw the doctor. Maybe because they had just finished surgery, they looked extremely exhausted. They asked what area brought me in, and when I said my face looked too gaunt so I was considering fat grafting... they said my face would benefit more from zygomatic contouring than fat grafting, but that if I did it at an older age it would definitely sag, so fat grafting would be unavoidable. They told me not to do the forehead - saying the skin would definitely sag. They said even just doing the lower cheeks naturally would be effective. When I said I also wanted to fill the hollow temples, the doctor was firm: "If you do the temples, your face will look bigger. Don't do it!!" At that point it started to feel like I was being scolded, but at the same time they also seemed to be speaking honestly. They showed me before-and-after surgery photos. They said if your face is long, adding volume to the forehead and temples can be okay, but if you have a zygomatic, round face shape like mine, then putting volume in the temples would make the face look broad and large, so I should not do it at all. They said the amount of fat also has to be adjusted depending on the face shape. And this was the only place that did not recommend thread lifting. They said to do that later if sagging happens after surgery... They said here the first and second rounds are always bundled together for 1.5 million won. And that their clinic has no side effects and no swelling.
After the consultations at places 1 and 2, I felt okay, but after consultation 3, honestly I felt weird. I do have a bit of cheekbone prominence, but my face is actually on the smaller side, so I never thought it would get bigger... But then again, it also felt like they were the most honest about the consultation... I was torn, but I booked place 3... then I came back late to this community and read the reviews.. Only then did I realize how many side effects fat grafting can have. I’m a scaredy-cat, and I keep going back and forth dozens of times a day about whether to cancel the reservation. Since 2 places recommended thread lifting, I also keep wondering whether fat grafting at an older age definitely means 100% skin sagging. There are people in the o o o cafe recommending ㅋㄹ, but I don’t know whether it’s a real ㅋㄹ or not. Places 1 and 2 definitely feel like they do a lot of internet marketing... Is there anyone who had it done at ㄹ?? I want a real review.
