My face shape was not originally very angular, but when seen from the front, I thought it would be nice if the jawline looked a little more refined, so I started considering surgery because I wanted to create a prettier V-line. During the consultation, I clearly said that I absolutely did not want my chin to become shorter or look like a retruded chin, and I told them I wanted a natural and slim look.
On day 7 after surgery, my mouth would not close well and my chin felt awkward, so I requested a CT scan from the hospital, but they said there would be an additional cost, which was a bit flustering. I thought checking the postoperative progress was a basic process, so I could not understand why the patient had to bear the cost even for this, and I was also disappointed by the hospital’s attitude toward follow-up care afterward.
After surgery, my chin tip feels like it has retracted a lot, and the jawline has collapsed, giving the impression of a retruded chin. In particular, my mouth does not close naturally, so I have to keep putting force into my chin, and I feel discomfort in daily life, such as air leaking when I pronounce words. The result was different from the direction I clearly said I did not want during the consultation, so I personally felt very disappointed. It has been 1 year since I had square jaw + chin tip surgery. During the consultation, I clearly said I absolutely did not want my chin to become shorter or look like a retruded chin, and they told me not to worry, but the actual result came out completely different. Symptoms and changes after surgery The chin tip retracted, making it look like a retruded chin, and the overall facial balance collapsed. Even though I actually lost weight compared with before surgery, my face looks more angular and my double chin stands out more. My mouth does not close naturally, so I always have to put force into my chin, and saliva often leaks or my pronunciation becomes unclear whenever I speak. The intraoral incision site still feels lumpy and tight, which is uncomfortable. The hospital said it would be okay after 6 months, but even after 1 year, it is the same. At the hospital, they just looked with their eyes without any detailed examination and only said it was not because of the surgery, and they did not consider the functional problems. I am attaching photos together for comparison, taking into account the weight change before and after surgery. I wrote this review because I really wanted to let people who are considering surgery know that they may experience functional discomfort like I did.
