When I said I was thinking about a revision rhinoplasty, many people asked whether I would use autologous costal cartilage. Is there really such a big difference between autologous and donor costal cartilage? My first surgery used ear cartilage, and the nasal tip collapsed, so I think I should use costal cartilage... I picked places I thought handled it well, like Natural-style and VN-DA-OM-level clinics, but should I check more?
Clinics mentioned
벨나띠 What style are you aiming for? The vibe of Natural-style and OM is very different. There are a lot of talks about donor rib being absorbed, so when I had my revision done at Jeongwon, I went with autologous costal cartilage. Donor rib also feels kind of uneasy to me,
우물쭈물 Each has pros and cons, so listen carefully during consultation. If you see too many hospitals, you'll just get confused. Why not start with a consultation first?
지금이라도 If it's a revision, almost everyone uses costal cartilage. The list looks okay; since it’s a revision, I think it’s good to add two or three more places. I’m also considering one too, so it could be a useful reference when checking hospitals, okay?
둥이둥이둥이 Revision surgery uses a lot of costal cartilage. Since there are pros and cons, think it through carefully and then choose.
너허구야 First go for consultation and listen to the explanation carefully, yes.
오러어어뷰 I recommend autologous costal cartilage. The nasal tip shape is definitely held more sharply and clearly. It has been over a year and there’s no drooping. If you want to check more, DL is also recommended~~ I also got a revision, lol
푸씨 There are also claims that donor rib gets absorbed, but with any material it’s truly case-by-case, really. If the nasal tip has collapsed, I’d still think autologous costal cartilage is the safer route. Even places like Deo-na or AB could probably use autologous well.
방글라데시이 Autologous and donor costal cartilage are different, yes. Because it starts from harvesting, you should be careful. Even doing it with a minimal incision is part of skill and know-how, as people say. The more surgical cases you’ve done, the more skilled you become, I think. So check places that do more complex cases and have many autologous costal cartilage revision reviews.
그래도 Go for consultation and discuss the material after taking a CT. Autologous costal cartilage can also have chest issues, and there is a warping risk if you end up with someone who handles it poorly. But it is true that it keeps the shape firm the longest. If lower-quality donor rib is used, it may be absorbed quickly; hospitals often don’t explain that clearly, so it feels safer to go with autologous. If you want to check more, Rovel is also okay~~
익명 I had my revision done with donor rib, and I was told there wasn't a big difference from autologous. Honestly, I'm more afraid of autologous warping...
혀기양 You looked into a variety of places! For revision rhinoplasty, it seems like costal cartilage is used a lot because it’s sturdy. I’m also debating between donated costal cartilage and autologous costal cartilage, but for now, I’m going to 브ㄹㅇ, 라ㅅㅌ, ㅇㄴ, and 하ㄴㅂ the day after tomorrow to ask the directors. Don’t worry too much either, and ask the director! If you’re going to look into more places, you can refer to my list. I heard they all handle costal cartilage well.
