I’ve kept rhinoplasty for the tip of my nose in my heart for 10 years, and yesterday it suddenly hit me that I really needed to get a consultation! So I hurried and booked one, and luckily I was able to visit both clinics today, so I came back with a review I went to two places, ㅊㅇ (ㅊㄴㅈ) and ㅇㅂㄹ (ㄱㄷㅇ), and both were clinics that, for the past two years or so, I’ve kept rewatching dozens of review videos for because they had the kind of ideal, natural-looking nose results I wanted First, I’ll share what the two clinics had in common and what each one felt like separately What they both had in common was that both places felt clean and well-maintained, which I liked. Maybe I timed it well, because there weren’t many people around, and the interior was nice too Both took a CT scan, and the consultation order was: consulting manager - surgeon - consulting manager (for consultation fee, reservation fee payment, etc.). With both consulting managers, I could ask everything comfortably and honestly. Actually, even if there are individual differences, the things people are curious about are pretty predictable, so they just told me everything before I even asked There were CCTV cameras installed, and they said they can only be viewed during surgery. (Ah, but ㅊㅇ didn’t mention the CCTV part.. sorry..) I honestly don’t have many friends around me who’ve had surgery, so there were some things I wanted to ask people who had actually gone through it, and I was glad that part was cleared up It was actually my first time seeing someone who had nose surgery.. I asked things like whether I’d need to be careful when smiling, whether it really feels hard and uncomfortable, whether the nostrils don’t move, and whether the incision heals without being noticeable. Of course, they probably answered everything in the best possible direction and only some of it was really true, but I was still satisfied And now that I think back while coming home, it was kind of creepy how both of them said exactly the same thing down to the last word,, is there some fixed consultation script in Gangnam these days...? (The surgeon emphasized that safety comes first and safety comes second) Both were in the mid-4 million won range, with sedation anesthesia, and the surgery time was 2 to 3 hours. My bridge is so-so (some people say I have one, some say I don’t..) and I have an arrow nose without a dorsal hump. It’s only the tip that droops, so the photos I brought weren’t celebrity photos, but just photos I took myself while lifting my nostrils I also have a deviated septum inside my nose. Seriously severe! But I wasn’t thinking about functional rhinoplasty, just about tip correction, so that’s what I researched in person. ㅊㅇ (ㅊㄴㅈ) During the manager consultation, they ask about the expected price, and it seems they assign surgeons roughly according to the price range. My goal was to only open up my nose once in my life, so I still wanted the head surgeon, so I chose that. The doctor touched my nose directly and even pressed inside the septum to check it, which made me feel like I could trust them. On the CT, they only checked that the deviated septum was severe and that the septum size was sufficient. They showed the expected nose shape with a cotton swab and had me check it in the mirror, and also drew a virtual image on a tablet to explain it. The manager also told me during the consultation that the doctor really likes my nose shape.. that they really like correcting it using my own tissue without silicone.. (I was a bit tempted) I think I saw reviews saying they were cold, and the consultation did feel a bit quick, but.. it still felt like a proper consultation They said the surgical method could use only the septum. They would build support with the septum and correct the wing-shaped area to create the shape. And they said I probably wouldn’t need ear cartilage, and that they likely wouldn’t use it. (But they said you only know for sure once you get into surgery) Since it’s a nose-tip surgery, they said they’d overcorrect it because it will settle, and although they drew the shape, it wouldn’t come out with such a pointed feeling (I definitely prefer rounded, so that was okay..). Then as the nose settles later, the shape will take form. It won’t droop as much as before, and they won’t intentionally fix it too rigidly. I felt like this was a somewhat traditional method. The doctor also said it would be the most favorable method for my nose, and considering they’re an experienced surgeon, I thought this might actually be a technique with a lot of clinical cases (When I researched on my own, it also seemed like it was mostly this kind of surgery. Septum support with nasal cartilage placed on top.) But my worries are: 1) they didn’t show me a single before-and-after surgery photo. Not the manager, not the doctor.. absolutely none.. 2) I’m not the kind of face that suits a feminine look, and I just want to turn only the nose tip upward in a rounded way, but because of the overcorrection style, it starts out looking like a half-bow shape. The doctor also said a half-bow shape is what makes it look feminine. I don’t think a half-bow shape suits my face.. But then again, looking at reviews, some people say it looks too much like they didn’t have surgery, so I’m conflicted ㅇㅂㄹ (ㄱㄷㅇ) When I first went to the clinic, there were about 3 other customers besides me. I only caught a quick glimpse by chance, but all three seemed to be there for follow-up after surgery. I thought this was great and only took a very careful, brief look, and they all seemed to have silicone inserted and lifted beautifully. But to me, the strong feeling was more like, wow, your nose!! They really did a pretty surgery! Of course, that was probably because the swelling hadn’t gone down yet. The lines were all pretty.. The doctor consultation felt kind and gentle. They didn’t make me do anything unnecessary, and both ㅊㅇ and ㅇㅂㄹ really emphasized that these days they follow a safety-first approach and don’t use unnecessary procedures or unnecessary materials. I didn’t know this, but they said a low and wide bridge makes the nose look heavy. The cases where nose-tip surgery turns out amazing are people with a thin bridge that already has some height (!) In any case, that’s not me, but I actually like a heavy and round nose, so I said I wouldn’t do silicone (Putting in silicone doesn’t magically make the nose!!; it seems to create contours that add depth through shadows. At least that’s how the review photos looked.) What I liked was that they showed me actual surgery photos. I was curious about the surgical methods, so I sometimes looked them up in papers, but it was nice to see photos at the clinic And here, just like in my research beforehand, they showed a lot of review photos. They showed many before-and-after photos and similar cases. Seeing real photos made it easier to understand! And especially at ㅇㅂㄹ, there were tons of before photos that looked exactly like my nose shape! The surgical method here uses ear cartilage as the main material, and they said they use the septum to shape the nose. But they said they use ear cartilage as support and stitch it in place one stitch at a time to shape it. No, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of this surgical method.. (Is this a commonly used method? Do other clinics use it too? If anyone here has had this surgery, I really want to know your review) They said if you force the bridge up, the tip becomes hard, and that this is the way to make the tip round. (That’s so tempting,,) (But at ㅊㅇ, they said that people who are naturally born with pretty noses may have septal support formed all the way to the tip of the nose. That seems to happen in many cases too..) I’m so torn right now.. Honestly, both clinics have equally good conditions, and the surgical methods make sense, so I really want to leave it 50-50 between the two clinics But there are really no reviews for ㅊㄴㅈ! There’s no way there would be none if you look at experience or years of practice.. If anyone here has had surgery at ㅊㄴㅈ, I’d be so grateful if you could DM me or leave a comment.. Also, ㅇㅂㄹ is overflowing with high-quality reviews... If anyone here has had nose-tip surgery with Dr. ㄱㄷㅇ, please let me know, I’d be very grateful for that too. Do other clinics also do this method of building support with ear cartilage tied in place like that? I’m also curious about reviews from anyone who has had this method.. I ended up writing a really long post Right now I want to go get another consultation at both clinics.. (Ah! Both charge consultation fees!) Or should I visit even more clinics in person?
