This is my review 40 days after complete nose implant removal! I’d been reading removal reviews whenever I had time lol
Today marks day 40, and overall I’d say it’s half and half. There’s no foreign-body sensation, nothing to feel anxious about, and my impression has softened. But the fact that my nasal bridge was shaved down (or maybe it was originally low..) is definitely noticeable, so it does bother me.
I definitely look less attractive after removal lol
Some people have asked where I had it done, but I’m not sure if I’m allowed to mention the name I had it done at the place in Daegu famous for costal cartilage / near Kyungpook National University Hospital, with a wing-shaped sign. If you want details, send me a message and I’ll let you know!
The price was neither cheap nor expensive, and the doctor was kind, though I did feel a bit like he was trying to avoid problems as much as possible. He kept saying everything wasn’t his fault, and I had to fill out several consent forms lol. Still, he was kind!
I had it done through a closed approach, and dissolvable sutures were used. My first surgery had been done through an open approach.
After trying it, I think each has pros and cons. With the closed approach, it’s nice for daily life because it doesn’t look obvious that you had surgery, but they said depending on the surgery, the nostrils may become asymmetrical. For me too, the nostril on the side where the septal support was removed was bigger at first! It’s improved a lot now, though. It may also change once the swelling goes down!
I haven’t had removal through an open approach, so I don’t know, but the downside first is that it’s noticeable and looks a bit unsightly? But I think open is better lol. Since more of the operated area is on the outside rather than inside the nose, it’s easier to manage, easier to see the condition, and it hurt less when removing stitches! (Even with the closed approach, during the follow-up they cut off some messy parts, and it hurt so much Tears were just streaming down)
My nose condition has improved a lot. Right after removal at first, the shape was somewhere between my silicone nose and my original nose, and it was really pretty.. But after about a week, without anything like a capsule effect, it went straight back to my original nose, and my nasal tip area, which was already bulbous, got even bigger, so I felt gloomy. It swelled until around week 2, and from then until week 3, the swelling started going down a lot.
Maybe it was the contraction phase, but I’d get a pounding?? feeling in my nose, then it would soften, then suddenly get hard as if it were clumping together, and that kept repeating. Of course it’s still somewhat like that now, but it doesn’t feel like it’s clumping the way it used to. When I touch it, it’s more just the difference between soft and hard?
My nose is much harder than before surgery. It feels like there’s still something inside holding it in place. Still, it’s much softer than the septal cartilage. If the septal cartilage felt hard like plastic, now it’s about like a rubber tire... not exactly hard, maybe I should say firm and springy.. Anyway, when I touch it, it feels like there’s something there.
When I had the removal, the doctor said my nose might lift during the contraction phase, but fortunately I really can barely tell that it has lifted so far. Looking at my nose now, I think it may have been a little like that around week 2, but there wasn’t a big difference. They say lifting can also happen in months 2 or 3, so I’ll have to keep watching. And there is some columellar contraction. The columella is gradually going inward lol Of course, it’s not really noticeable to others and is only something I can see myself.
As for pain, until the first 2 weeks there was occasional aching or stinging, but now it has gradually decreased and is almost gone. I’m still psychologically cautious about touching it, but recently when I was getting skincare, the person pressed a little firmly and I didn’t really feel anything, so I guess it has improved.
For my skin, sebum production has decreased a little, just a very, very little, but there’s still a long way to go Other areas are dry, but only my nose is dripping with oil It really feels like it’s going to run lol. I’m not sure when it’ll get better, but I think I’ll need to manage it diligently. The operated area inside the nose has healed well, and honestly I sometimes pick boogers now too lol. It doesn’t hurt anymore. My nasal alae are often soft too.
Until the first 2 weeks, even opening my mouth pulled, so I couldn’t open it wide, but now even when I pull down my philtrum, it doesn’t pull much! I think I’ve recovered to about 80% of before surgery now. Honestly, I don’t even remember my old nose well anymore lol
I hope it quickly goes back to being a soft nose.
Oh, and although it doesn’t show when I look from the outside, I have a slight hump that I can feel by touch + my entire nasal bridge was lightly shaved to insert silicone. From the side, honestly I’m not sure about the height, but from the front it looks too plain and lower, so I went for a filler consultation. But it’s still hard, so I’m planning to get it once it becomes softer. I’m planning to get it around months 3-4. If anyone has gotten filler after removal, please share your review~!
