It’s been 7 days since the open approach total removal and cartilage rearrangement. Because I had a contracture nose, the doctor recommended revision surgery, saying that if I wanted to lower the tip more, septal cartilage or ear cartilage would need to be used as support.. But I didn’t want any more foreign-body sensation, so I had it removed and had tip-lengthening sutures done.
I’ve had the stitches removed and am recovering now.. But a problem came up
Before the removal surgery, I had a deviated septum, and they said they would correct that too. The columella did return straight away, but one nostril, the airway passage where air goes in and out, has become extremely narrow.. If I block the other nostril and try to breathe through that one, it almost doesn’t breathe at all. It feels completely blocked.. The doctor says it may still be due to swelling, but the swelling has already gone down a lot now.. I think this will last for the rest of my life
Also, the nostrils and alar rims are asymmetrical The nostrils were asymmetrical even before removal, but now the asymmetry is different from before. One side of the alar rim is lying flatter
From the front, it’s less noticeable, but from below.. it looks so obvious it makes me gasp Because of this, I cry every day these days..
When I went to get the stitches removed and told the doctor, they talked about surgery to lower the opposite side’s alar cartilage.. Shouldn’t everything have been aligned properly while it was open? I was a bit speechless
I keep thinking, did I really go through all that trouble and spend so much money to travel from the provinces to Seoul and get this surgery? Now I’m too tired to keep worrying about my nose, and I don’t want any more surgeries...
I wonder if anyone with similar symptoms ever got better? I’m just rambling because I’m upset. I don’t want to mention the hospital name yet..
