It wasn’t for cosmetic purposes, but for treatment, and 3 months have passed. First of all, I had severe asymmetry in the bones themselves, and compared with my jaw, the muscles around my mouth were short, so a lot of force went into my chin, my mouth protruded, and my mouth shape looked awkward (I had already had extraction orthodontic treatment). My jaw grew vertically, so even though my chin was long, I had a retruded chin. Anyway, because it hurt and caused a lot of stress, I had surgery. I was scared, so I went to a private clinic known for having no accidents and for not shaving off too much bone (recommended by an acquaintance). Even during the consultation, I said it was for treatment purposes and didn’t mention cosmetics at all, so maybe because of that, I wonder if it would have been a bit better if I had also paid some attention to the cosmetic side. For treatment purposes, I’m not 100% satisfied, but I’m 90% satisfied, so I think I did well.
Pros 1. Pain in one temporomandibular joint disappeared I was warned in advance that the temporomandibular joint and double-jaw surgery are different issues, so it might not improve even after surgery, but once I actually had it done, the pain disappeared. This is what I’m most satisfied with.
2. Since my jaw became smaller and the retruded chin was resolved, my face looks smaller and my neck looks longer My head is small, but my face was large, so it was a complex; this was resolved to some extent.
3. My mouth shape improved compared with before, and it’s easier to close my mouth.
Cons
1. Face shape My original face shape was a long oval and not bad, but I guess they didn’t touch the sides and just cut it horizontally, so the jaw under my ears suddenly became prominent, and my chin is not particularly pointed either, so my overall face shape became very square
2. Facial sagging
Once most of the swelling went down, it really did sag. I didn’t even have a double chin, but one appeared, so it was a shock... The chin area sagged, and combined with the bones, my face shape became like Dooly It’s month 3, so a lot has gone down, but the square-jaw-like shape remains the same. When I do strength training and gently do lifting massage from YouTube, it does improve to some extent, so I’m going to keep doing it
3. I’m not sure this counts as a downside, but closing my mouth still hasn’t become perfectly comfortable. The pebbled chin still remains too... This was what I expected the most, but it hasn’t been fixed Still, it improved, so I’m satisfied....
4. I don’t think my nose widened, but my nose stands out, which is funny.
After writing this, thinking about shaving down more areas here and there gives me even more chills. I think it would have been hard. I don’t think double-jaw surgery is a surgery worth doing for cosmetic purposes. There is more to lose than to gain, and the fact that it’s a major surgery will hit you hard before surgery, so you’ll probably want to run away before entering the operating room
