I have a small mouth, so I ended up getting orthodontic treatment because of malocclusion and temporomandibular joint issues. It was a place someone I knew had gone to, so I just trusted them and did it, but even if someone you know went there, make sure to look up information and ask questions carefully.
I had a total of 6 teeth removed, including my wisdom teeth. But after the extractions, my lower jaw looks like it has gone in quite a lot It’s not quite a sunken-mouth look, but I do think it would have been nice if it had come forward just a little. Still, I don’t think I’ll do reverse orthodontic treatment again. Thinking about getting screws placed and the cost makes me not want to do it.
Right now I only wear a retainer on my lower teeth and don’t do anything for my upper teeth, but thankfully they haven’t spread apart or anything. There are downsides, but I like myself better now after orthodontic treatment.
