Before<before revision surgery>After<right after removing the splint>After<maybe around three months later?>After after after after after<photos at 1 year>Hi everyone~ It’s been over a year since I had surgery, but the reason I’m only writing a review now is because, as I said earlier, mine was a revision surgery, and since I was more than 50% dissatisfied with my first surgery, I wanted to evaluate the revision more carefully. I felt like at least six months to a year had to pass before I could confidently say that I liked it myself. And this probably applies to any cosmetic surgery, but with the nose, I thought it would be too hasty to write that I was satisfied after only a few weeks to a few months, so I think I waited.
What I felt after going through revision surgery was: 1. You need to clearly know the nose design you want = I don’t mean simply saying things like a dramatic style or a natural style! I think the biggest reason my first surgery failed was because I went around to consultations and had surgery with a simple thought like <I should make it moderately natural-but-defined>. Even if you broadly divide it into natural - natural-but-defined - dramatic, the “natural-but-defined” a clinic thinks of and the “natural-but-defined” I think of are inevitably different. So once you actually come out after rhinoplasty, there is bound to be a gap from the nose design you wanted. During my first surgery too.. I was like, please~ don’t let the nasal tip come down more, don’t come down.. But in the end, what natural-but-defined? lol It was too natural, so I ended up doing it again
2. Nose design should be decided by your own standards = To increase satisfaction, you have no choice but to look at the design critically This is one thing you shouldn’t compromise on with the clinic. After my first surgery, when I realized anew that I like dramatic noses, even when looking for a clinic for revision, I went around from the start focusing on places that do dramatic surgery well from the nasal bridge to the nasal tip.
Among them, there were places where the director put their own opinion ahead of mine.. Well, I can understand that to some extent, but still, it’s better to choose a place that sets the design while reflecting your opinion as much as possible. Places with an <I’m the doctor!> mindset that force you to do as they say.... I hope you pass on those.
3. Getting rhinoplasty is important, but aftercare is really important too = It’s not “done once you get the nose surgery!” Please follow everything the clinic tells you to follow.. no drinking, no smoking, things like putting cotton swabs into your nose and stirring around.. With rhinoplasty, swelling goes down and the nose settles over as long as six months to a year It’s not over just because you’re careful for only the first few months. Like me, you need to watch it for a year If you say you don’t like it when you didn’t even do the care you could do yourself, I think there’s nothing more foolish than that.. I requested it in advance from the clinic where I had surgery, so I received swelling laser treatment every time I went If there is any care you can receive at the clinic after surgery, I recommend getting all of it without missing anything!!
4. Why I used donated rib cartilage = These days, costal cartilage is used a lot even for first surgeries, and honestly, most revision surgeries use autologous costal cartilage, right? I also worried about the types of rib cartilage while going to many consultations, but no matter how small the scar size is, autologous costal cartilage felt a bit burdensome to me.. When you go around to consultations, there are places that say, “Since yours is a revision, it has to be autologous costal cartilage no matter what,” but at least the place where I had surgery explained the pros and cons of each type of costal cartilage and gave me the choice. Even if it’s a revision surgery (even if there are limits to material choice or surgical method..), you’re paying your own money for surgery, so don’t get needlessly discouraged at consultations lol You should state your requirements clearly and have surgery with the nose material you want That way you won’t later have foolish regrets like, ah, I should’ve just done donated rib cartilage.....!
As I kept writing, this got way too long, but honestly, my recovery was much faster with the revision than with my first surgery, so I do feel some regret wondering what it would’ve been like if I had done it here from the beginning.. lol
For the first surgery, I feel like it can’t be helped because you start without knowing eight out of ten things, but I’m writing this because I hope everyone can succeed from their first surgery!
