I was concerned about my facial asymmetry from long before, so I had orthodontic treatment in the past, but I was told it would not improve unless I had double-jaw surgery. While looking for a double-jaw surgery clinic, oral and maxillofacial surgery felt safer and more specialized than plastic surgery, so I looked up Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Dental Clinic on YouTube, Gangnam Unni, blogs, etc., had a consultation, decided to have double-jaw surgery plus square jaw and chin surgery, made a reservation, and had surgery on August 19. The clinic interior was very new, and what I liked most was that Director Lee Seok-jae personally answered my questions one-on-one and took meticulous care of me hehe
<Before surgery> I prepared the items listed in the KakaoTalk message the manager sent me and visited the clinic. Once the surgery schedule is set, the manager carefully explains everything from what to prepare to how to care for yourself hehe (pumpkin porridge, sauce bottle, neck pillow, etc.)
Day of surgery (8.19) Because I had existing orthodontic treatment, I came 30 minutes earlier than the scheduled surgery time and waited to have my braces removed. Before surgery, I heard the final explanation from the director about the design and improvement direction, then proceeded with surgery. I think the surgery took about 2 hours and 30 minutes? Since it was the first day, it didn't really hurt, but I strongly felt that it was exhausting.
Day 2 after surgery (8.20) Throughout the early morning, nurses stayed at the hospital and checked my blood pressure at regular intervals and looked after my condition well, so I was hospitalized very comfortably and felt reassured. From the second day, the urinary catheter was removed, so it was more bearable than the first day hehe
Day 3 after surgery (8.21) The director personally came in and checked the swelling and progress frequently every day. Since it was my last day of hospitalization, I received the precautions and bought medication It didn't hurt, but there was still a little discomfort.
Day 4 after surgery (8.22) After arriving home, I read the precaution manual the clinic gave me, diligently drank soy milk and ate pumpkin porridge while doing aftercare. When I had questions, I also left KakaoTalk messages to the clinic, and I was grateful that they replied immediately!
Day 5 to Day 7 after surgery (8.23~8.25) By then I was used to it, so I slept well, and since I took medicine, eating was almost 0 discomfort. At the one-week mark, I visited the clinic, and Director Lee Seok-jae personally disinfected the inside of my mouth and told me the wound was healing well, so I felt very relieved. They also provided swelling laser treatment at the same time, and it was the best.
Day 8 to Day 14 after surgery (8.25~9.3) Around the 2-week mark, I had the intraoral stitches removed, and after that I could brush my teeth with a baby toothbrush and eat blended porridge, so I felt so, so much better. Director Lee Seok-jae personally handled every single outpatient treatment, and every time I went to the clinic, he also did swelling laser treatment. I really liked that it felt like they cared about each patient individually.
2024.9.19 (one month after surgery) After eating baby food, I'm now eating porridge and soft noodle dishes. Weeks 1-2 were really hard, and during weeks 3-4 I adapted a lot, so the tingling pain decreased and things stabilized quite a bit. The swelling has also gone down a lot, and I'm gradually returning to daily life. There is still some swelling left, but I feel proud that I had the surgery. People who had concerns like me and got double-jaw surgery will know this feeling. Even though I'm swollen, it genuinely feels good despite the swelling. Since the surgery ended well, I really hope I recover without any problems and get back to life!
