Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Three-month review after choosing double-jaw surgery to improve malocclusion and returning to daily life

It has already been three months since I underwent double-jaw surgery with Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at [Clinic A] Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery At first, I wondered when I would be able to eat comfortably while taking New Care and water with a syringe, but now eating is much easier and I have returned to my main job. The early days felt long, but once I started working again, time began passing quickly.

The biggest change is definitely eating. During the first month, I pressed soft food with my tongue or cut it into small pieces, but now there are quite a few foods I can eat. I have also consistently done mouth-opening exercises, so opening my mouth feels more natural than before and the discomfort during meals has decreased a lot. However, I still cut foods that require long chewing, such as meat, into bite-sized pieces. If I chew excitedly because I can eat it, my jaw muscles sometimes feel sore, so I am eating slowly

For a while after surgery, I lost weight because I was eating less, but now that eating is easier, my weight has returned I realized that the weight lost after double-jaw surgery does not necessarily stay off. These days I am paying a little more attention to how much I eat as I am eating better.

The awkwardness I felt when brushing my teeth has also decreased. At first, even when I brushed the upper gums, it did not really feel like I was cleaning my own mouth, and it felt unfamiliar. Now I can gradually feel sensation returning. I do not notice much when I look every day, but when I compare myself with a month ago, I realize that even these things have changed.

There is still some swelling from the double-jaw surgery. My cheeks and jawline are still puffy, and it does not feel as if both sides are going down at the same rate. In my case, the right jawline looks a little more defined, while the left cheek and area under the jaw still show more swelling. In photos, it also looks different depending on the angle and lighting, so some days I feel that a lot has gone down, but when I look straight on, I think it is still there Even so, when I look back at my one-month photo, I can clearly see that it has decreased.

Before surgery, I searched for many double-jaw surgery reviews, but once I became the one recovering, reviews saying that swelling went down quickly stood out to me for no reason I am not at that stage yet, so rather than constantly comparing myself with other people’s photos, I am using my own previous photos as the standard. Day by day, I may look similar in the mirror, but when I place photos from a few weeks ago side by side, there is a difference. I will try not to be impatient and wait a little longer.

I decided to have double-jaw surgery partly because I wanted to improve the malocclusion I had had since childhood, and partly because I wanted to try work that involves speaking in front of people, such as live commerce or being a shopping host. I have always liked talking, and as I thought about what I might be good at, I became interested in that field. I decided to use this opportunity to improve the occlusion problem that had concerned me for a long time, along with my appearance.

I had consultations at several places while researching clinics, but I remember Dr. Kim Jong-yoon at [Clinic A] Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery explaining my condition and the surgery in great detail. I also watched almost all of [Clinic A] Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery’s videos, which helped me choose the clinic because I could learn in advance about the double-jaw surgery process and things I might wonder about during recovery. While recovering, I often remembered things I had seen in the videos or reviews.

There is still swelling, and my jaw sometimes feels stiff, but when I think about the early days when my nose was blocked, I could not sleep well, and I could eat only liquid food, daily life is much more comfortable now. I have started working again, so I plan to observe the changes gradually while going about my daily life. I am also curious how much more the swelling in my cheeks and jawline will have gone down by my next review
