Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

8-month review after double-jaw surgery at EverM

It has been 8 months since I had double-jaw surgery plus three contouring procedures at EverM, and I’m extremely satisfied. The photos are from 6 months post-op. Before surgery, asymmetry and a protruding lower jaw made me focus only on my lower face when interacting with people, and I lacked confidence. My cheekbones were also large enough that I had developed a habit of covering my face when I laughed, which caused a lot of stress. After surgery, my facial line itself became more defined, and people often told me my impression looked gentler. That was what satisfied me most. Before, I covered or edited my face in photos; now I take lots of photos. I used to be told that I looked very stern and older than my age, and people even asked whether I was angry when my face was expressionless. Now I’m told I look youthful and that my impression is gentle and soft, so I’m very satisfied and have gained confidence. At first I deliberated a lot because it was major surgery under general anesthesia, and I was afraid because I heard recovery was difficult. But I had fun making and eating recipes from EverM’s YouTube channel, and watching myself become prettier as the swelling gradually went down made the time pass quickly. As the swelling decreased, people increasingly told me I looked much prettier, so I kept thinking I had made the right decision. I also took frequent walks to help the swelling go down faster. Daily life was very difficult for about a month, and I wondered when time would pass, but from week 3 onward I could remove the wafer, which was comfortable, and eating became easier. Most importantly, I think you really need to do lots of mouth-opening exercises. At first I could open my mouth only enough for one finger, which was uncomfortable, and I worried it might never open farther. At follow-up they said I didn’t need to worry and that it would open a lot if I kept exercising. I practiced opening it frequently, and after about a month I could open it enough for three fingers. It was so comfortable. I also received swelling laser treatment whenever I went, so the swelling subsided quickly; by one month I was even wearing makeup, and people said they couldn’t believe how quickly the swelling had gone down. Before surgery I looked in the mirror every day, lost confidence, felt depressed, and often went out wearing a mask. Now I hardly ever wear one. I’m truly glad I had the surgery. Most of all, if you’re considering surgery, I really hope you choose EverM. I’m grateful to all the staff who treated me kindly whenever I went for follow-up, but I especially want to thank the nurses who carefully checked my condition day and night for the two nights and three days after surgery. I couldn’t breathe properly, slept sitting up, couldn’t sleep well or eat, and had no energy, but the nurses’ attentive care helped me endure it. Wherever you go, this is major surgery and you’ll probably need inpatient treatment, but I’ve never experienced care as kind as EverM’s. My parents occasionally visited after surgery and said the nurses were very kind too, so they went home reassured. You can even go alone, have surgery and treatment, and return home, so you don’t need to worry about not having a caregiver. And to the director who operated on me for such a long time, thank you so much for giving me a new life.
