I ended up getting orthodontic treatment at this dental clinic 10 years ago through an acquaintance’s recommendation. It’s already been 10 years, so I don’t remember everything clearly, but I’ll try to write as much as I can recall. When I first met the director, he firmly refused, saying he did not recommend orthodontic treatment for cosmetic purposes, but since I said my jaw hurt from time to time, I had an examination and was diagnosed with malocclusion.
For the orthodontic treatment, I had 4 teeth extracted, excluding my wisdom teeth. (My wisdom teeth had already been removed before the braces.) I had screws placed in my gums..^^... (I can still almost hear the creak-creak sound every time the screws were tightened...)
The expected treatment period was 2 and a half years, but I remember it ended in about 2 years and 1 month. For the orthodontic appliances, I had metal brackets and a lingual orthodontic appliance. I am still using retainers to this day. They told me to wear the retainers every night, but these days I wear them or skip them depending on my mood, and my teeth still haven’t shifted back. I’m not really aware of any black triangles either.
I tend to make a fuss about pain, and whenever I wanted to just get the braces off quickly, the director would say, “There is no royal road in orthodontic treatment.”
I think that’s true. I’ve seen quite a few people around me who had orthodontic treatment when they were young and then had their teeth shift again, but mine have stayed the same for 10 years.
Because of the lingual orthodontic appliance, it is a bit annoying that food gets stuck whenever I eat and tartar builds up easily, but when I see my even teeth, I’m satisfied.
