I went to a total of 6 places for nose consultations, and I liked the consultation here the most. So far, I had been to ㅇㅂㄹ, ㅇㄷㅇㅇㅇ, ㅂㅌㅇ, ㅎㅌ, ㅋㅇㅍㄹㅅ, and ㅎㅇㅂ. Each doctor said such different things, and many places advised against surgery, so it was hard to decide, but after getting a consultation at ㄴㅇㄷ, I started leaning more toward not doing it.
My nose still has some filler left in the glabella area from 5 years ago, and my nasal tip is naturally high, so at ㅋㅇㅍㄹㅅ they said my side profile already looked like a complete nose. From the front, my columella looks recessed, and I was stressed about my nasal tip area and alar base looking wide and spread out, so I only wanted frontal improvement without implants!
The line was so much my taste that if I were to do it, I definitely wanted to do it here, but... They said that even though it would be my first surgery, my nose would need silicone, septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and costal cartilage all used... So I think I’ll put it on hold. Below is what I quickly wrote in my notes on the day of the consultation and copied over.
They didn’t just think about making only my nose prettier, but really sincerely thought about what should be done for my current face to become prettier
I arrived 20 minutes earlier than my appointment time, and without waiting, the consultation went manager-doctor-manager. The doctor’s consultation was about 30 minutes? It felt really long. I was surprised because he was handsome. My skin is average to slightly thin. (He showed me tons of other women’s nose photos and helped me understand that my skin isn’t thick.)
I didn’t even mention it, but he pointed out the parts of my current face that stress me out the most (cheekbones, protruding mouth). He said my original nose itself is good, and surgery is about making the original base prettier. He said it’s like how the proportions look different when someone 155 cm wears heels versus someone 165 cm wearing heels; it’s something added onto the original base... (I didn’t really relate to that)
Rather than only making the nose prettier, he said the nose would become slightly higher within my current image, and if I had surgery, the blank areas of my current face (prominent cheekbones, protruding mouth, nasolabial folds) would relatively decrease, so instead of people thinking “she got her nose done,” it would have the effect of making them wonder, “what did she do to get prettier?”
Slightly long nose, thick nasal alae. Because the glabella area is on the narrow side, the starting point of the nose must not be raised. Need to be careful because it would make the nose look longer. Alar reduction makes the nostrils smaller, but my nostrils are not large, so it would have no effect. The septal cartilage is small and deviated. (Costal cartilage may be used if needed.) They buy costal cartilage as a whole piece, slice it, and use it. (He actually showed me a vacuum pack of whole donated costal cartilage.) He doesn’t prefer using costal cartilage, but it goes in if needed. (Instead, he takes a verification photo of the septal cartilage and shows why it had to be used.) Dissolve filler one week before. Silicone 3.5 mm + septal cartilage, ear cartilage... + costal cartilage. Improve the protruding mouth through columella and nasolabial angle correction.
My current nose line is pretty. Because of that, within my current line, if only the nasal tip is done without silicone, only the tip will become higher and the balance will be disrupted. My nose needs silicone. If I’m not going to use it, my current nose is also decent, so if I won’t use silicone, he said if I were his younger sibling, he’d tell me to just live as I am. If I’m not going to have surgery, don’t dissolve the filler.
If I’m going to do it, do it properly all at once; otherwise, it’s better not to do it. He said it’s fine even now, so don’t stress too much
Anyway, if you’re thinking about nose surgery, I recommend going for a consultation. He really looked at me for a seriously long time..
