Rhinoplasty review (bulbous nose, low nose, nasal tip, nostril wings, nasal bridge)

Hi~~ I’d only been lurking, but I got a lot of information from this community, so I brought a review hoping it might help even a little

Clinic information is private, and I did it in Seoul. I’m from outside Seoul, so I stayed one night after surgery Before surgery, I only went to one place for a consultation, but a close friend had surgery there 2 years ago, it went well, and there have been no side effects up to now, so I trusted it and went More than anything, the biggest reason was that the director didn’t overtreat at all and was very honest, so I trusted him and booked surgery (everyone, make sure you do thorough in-person consultations)

It was midsummer when I had surgery, so I was a bit worried (the season didn’t matter) If anything, the humidity was good. I didn’t use a humidifier

After finishing my 2-year orthodontic journey, I had surgery about a month later (if you’re thinking about orthodontics, I think it’s right to do rhinoplasty after finishing orthodontics) It’s now been 11 days since surgery, and I had 4 things worked on: bulbous nose correction, nasal bridge (4.5 mm silicone), nasal tip (columella: septal cartilage + donated costal cartilage / tip: ear cartilage), and nostril wing reduction

During the consultation right before surgery, if the septal cartilage was weak or insufficient, he told me to choose in advance whether to lower the nasal tip height a bit and proceed with septal cartilage only, or add donated costal cartilage to raise it I chose the latter (he said my septal cartilage wasn’t insufficient, but it was a bit weak)

Main point It was done under sedation anesthesia, and when I opened my eyes, it was over

For pain, from the day of surgery to day 1, my nose felt very numb and spicy, and it hurt moderately and continuously

On the day of surgery, I barely slept because of the pain + cotton packing

Everyone seems to sleep sitting up, but from the day of surgery I slept with my pillow folded in half (I think they said sleeping sitting up can cause a hematoma. Sleeping straight seems important, and of course the head should be higher than the heart)

The cotton was removed on day 1, and for me this really hurt / gauze was also removed in the evening / started nasal irrigation from the evening (the director told me to)

From day 2 it didn’t hurt, and my nose was blocked until day 6 / I showered with my head tilted back, excluding my face

From the day of surgery to day 3, I did cold compresses 4 times a day? for about 5 to 10 minutes / from day 4 I didn’t do cold compresses

My nose was blocked until day 6, so I couldn’t sleep properly / until stitches and the splint were removed, I cleaned the stitch areas with saline twice a day, morning and evening, and applied ophthalmic ointment

On day 7, the splint and stitches were removed, and it didn’t hurt at all + swelling laser / from then both sides of my nose opened up

From day 8, I gently washed my face with cleansing oil and cleansing foam / started light walks

From day 1 to day 7 after surgery, I did nasal irrigation twice a day, morning and evening, and now I just do nasal irrigation once before bed

There was less swelling than expected, and I didn’t bruise either (maybe I’m suited for surgery?) Of course, my nose is still a bit thick. They said about 80% of the swelling goes down after a month

Things to prepare: sterile cotton swabs, sterile gauze, flesh-colored tape, saline, Tylenol, nasal irrigation supplies (sold on Coupang), porridge (for taking medicine because eating rice was annoying)

If you swell a lot, I recommend buying swelling medication / a plastic surgery pillow? doesn’t seem necessary. I always sleep on my side, but after rhinoplasty, I had no choice but to sleep straight lol

Currently on day 11 I can open my mouth well, I can breathe well through both sides of my nose, and the nostrils are roughly similar (they weren’t perfectly, perfectly symmetrical even before surgery)

It’s definitely improved compared to before. The swelling hasn’t even gone down yet, but I’m very satisfied. I think I did well getting nose surgery

Before nose surgery, I really searched this community, cosmetic surgery cafes, and YouTube before deciding

They say rhinoplasty will definitely require revision later, so of course I thought about that part too

For what’s commonly called inflammation, the director said it’s about 3~4 people out of 100 (don’t worry too much; he said if inflammation happens early, taking medicine and getting injections should make it okay)

Most revisions are due to dissatisfaction with the shape, or the nasal tip drooping later?

Conclusion If your nose really bothers you a lot and stresses you out? Then I recommend rhinoplasty Ah~ you feel like if only your nose were done, you’d look a bit better? Then I don’t recommend it (because it’s surgery, you have to suffer for a few days, you have to manage it for life, inflammation and later revision can happen, + cost)

Bulbous nose Low nose Nasal tip Nostril wings Nasal bridge

This review is a surgery review that pursues a natural look.
